Do you only get the beta download from having the plugin1 release installed first? I don't see a download link anywhere for this Beta.

    Download Firefox 3.6.4 Beta

Mozilla is cooking a consistent update to the latest iteration of its open source browser, diverging just a tad from its normal refresh cycle that is focused on the delivery of stability fixes and security patches. Essentially, the plan is to integrate Firefox codename Lorentz into Firefox 3.6 via the next minor update scheduled for the browser, although, in this specific case, “minor” is not necessarily the best term to describe the upcoming step in the evolution of v3.6.

I usually find that I end up turning off the newer features in Firefox... did so w/ 3.5. The new tab button is gone, replaced with the old, as is having a tab permanently on the screen. However, maybe this time they'll come out with some exciting stuff :)

Strange stuff. Info on 3.6.4 beta seems contradictory on Softpedia and Crimson Rain.
Found this and downloaded and installed it but it's actually 3.6.3

Mozilla Firefox 3.6.4 Beta Release Notes

I followed links to get to this page and didn't notice that it was 3.6.3 until it came down. Things start getting complicated:

Don't think 3.6.4 beta exists yet. All roads lead back to 3.6.3 and I'm not sure whether I have this "Lorentz" version or not
