sometimes when a page is loading feels like it gets stuck for a half a second while scrolling, and that doesnt seem to happen on an XP machine i have. Am i the only one with that problem? it does not happen all the time but i def notice it.

If you have a slow internet connection, it can feel like that because while you're scrolling the page is putting new images into the screen which make the total size of the page larger, therefore even though you're scrolling down you end up going up instead of down.

    Think about it this way:

Firefox sees your position as absolute.
I.E. If you're 3000 pixels down the page, even if the page gets longer you'll stay 3000 pixels down.
That means that if the page goes from 6000 pixels to 9000 pixels you'll end up going from 1/2 down the page to 1/3 down the page. When scrolling it happens in much smaller increments.

You did say you were loading pages as you were scrolling yes? That's what causes it.

Granted, there are other causes as well, but if you don't lag when you're not scrolling & loading a page then you're probably just experiencing the repositioning due to images causing the page to increase in length.

    That's why

Each major browser renders differently, but you would notice a certain similar issue amongst all of them.

I get a similar occurrence in Opera and FF from time to time as well.

So when the OP says it didn't happen in XP it's just the imagination?

thats the thing on the xp machine i dont see it get stuck as hard as i see it get stuck here on 7, and my hardware is wayy more powerful on my 7 machine then my xp. I am guessing its just the way 7 renders?

Could be. Or the way Firefox handles it. I'm no graphics expert but I think the biggest difference XP to Vista/W7 is "composition" like to do with Aero and glass and all that. The way the graphics data is buffered or processed or something is different. Somebody in graphics cards probably knows the nitty gritty of how it all works. :)
