Question about Firefox compatability with toolbar Hi, I'm a newbie with a problem. ;-) I use Firefox v. 3.6.3 and Windows 7. I have Firefox pinned to my toolbar, and I haven't had any problems with it that I know of. However, every once in a while, when I click on the icon on the toolbar to open Firefox, a little window pops up saying they are not compatible and I should unpin it. So far, I've just ignored it, but I would like to know why it keeps telling me to unpin Firefox. Any thoughts???? Thanks. | My System Specs |

I've never heard of this problem. The next time it pops up, take a screen shot of it (Printscreen Button) and post it here. That'll give us a better idea of the problem. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Apple Macbook Pro (April 2009) OS W7 Ult. x64 | OS X CPU Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo 2.93Ghz [T9800 Penryn] Motherboard NVIDIA nForce 730i Rev. It happened again tonight. I'll try to figure out how to do a screenshot, thanks. It's a little window that pops up from the toolbar when I click on the Firefox icon instead of Firefox opening. | My System Specs

To make a screenshot, just press the [PRINT SCREEN] button to copy the entire screen or [ALT]+[PRINT SCREEN] to copy only the active window. Open Paint and then paste [CTRL]+V or menu Edit -> Paste. BTW, I've had Firefox pinned to my taskbar for a very long time (actually its the only thing pinned to the taskbar) and I've never encountered anything like this. | My System Specs | | Computer type Laptop System Manufacturer/Model Number HP EliteBook 8530w Mobile Workstation OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86 build 7600 (XP, 98SE, 95, 3.11, DOS 7.10 on VM) + Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx CPU Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.40 GHz, 3 MB L2 cache) Motherboard Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset ICH9M-Enhanced Memory 2GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Graphics Card ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 256 MB Sound Card SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 15.4-inch WXGA anti-glare (1280 x 800 resolution) Screen Resolution 1280 x 800 Mouse Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad, USB Mouse Hard Drives 250GB Fujitsu MJA2250BH G2 ATA Device (IDE),

Since it doesn't seem to be an issue, I'm not going to worry about it. Oddly enough, I used to have the windows compatibility report icon on the toolbar, and it was gone and replace by windows media. I have no clue how that even happened, but I unpinned the windows media icon which might have been the problem. The messages only started recently. And here I thought things would get easier when I got rid of Vista. ;-) | My System Specs

I, too, have had Firefox pinned to the taskbar with no ill effects. In fact, I test several versions (3.6.x release, 3.6.x+1 Namoroka, 3.7ax Minefield, and 3.6.x x64 Firefox) and have all of them pinned to my taskbar. Never ha a problem.
Does this occur when you close Firefox and then try to open it almost immediately, or any time (and randomly) in general? | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number The Beast Model V OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 965 EE @3.6 GHz Motherboard eVGA x58 Classified3 Memory 3 * 4GB Mushkin Enh Redline CL7 DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) Graphics Card eVGA 560 Ti 448 Core Classified + eVGA GTX260 SSC (PhysX) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio (on-board) Monitor(s) Displays 2 * Acer X213Wbd Screen Resolution 2 * 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Keyboard Mouse Logitech Performance Mouse MX PSU ThermalTake BlackWidow TX TR2 850 W Case ThermalTake Level 10 GT (Black) Cooling Corsair H100 CPU | 2 * TT 140mm TriLED | 2 * Antec TriCool Hard Drives 1 * Intel Cheryville 520 180 GB SATA III SSD |

It probably happens when I try to open it soon after closing it. I find Facebook apps get real slow if I don't do that once in a while. I really haven't paid that much attention, though. It hasn't happened again since I unpinned windows media, so fingers crossed. | My System Specs

I had a feeling. As for Facebook, well, tbh, I'd use anothe browser for that, keeping it separate from Fx - there are a couple of options, either make a new profile and force another instance of Fx to run that profile for FB alone, or else get Chrome, Opera, or use *shudder* IE for FB.
The reason I say this is that the games on FB tend to accumulate a lot of cache files, which will bog your overall browsing experience down a bit (or a lot) after a significant period of time.
One thing you could try (instead of closing and opening) would be to use Fx's built in cache cleaner - hold the Control ([CTRL])and Shift ([SHIFT]) keys down and hit the Delete ([DEL]) key and you'll get a menu to clear out stuff - Click the "v" beside Details, uncheck everything except Cache, then click the OK button - see if it helps. | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number The Beast Model V OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU Core i7 965 EE @3.6 GHz Motherboard eVGA x58 Classified3 Memory 3 * 4GB Mushkin Enh Redline CL7 DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3-12800) Graphics Card eVGA 560 Ti 448 Core Classified + eVGA GTX260 SSC (PhysX) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio (on-board) Monitor(s) Displays 2 * Acer X213Wbd Screen Resolution 2 * 1680 x 1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Keyboard Mouse Logitech Performance Mouse MX PSU ThermalTake BlackWidow TX TR2 850 W Case ThermalTake Level 10 GT (Black) Cooling Corsair H100 CPU | 2 * TT 140mm TriLED | 2 * Antec TriCool Hard Drives 1 * Intel Cheryville 520 180 GB SATA III SSD |
