Windows 7: IE 8 Print issues

IE 8 Print issues

My problem is slightly different than the ones posted on other threads on this forum-

I recently did a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate and all was working fine till I tried to print an email from IE.

The printers I have installed are Adobe PDF, XPS, Epson.

I am able to see print previews just fine.

When I click print using the XPS - nothing happens.

When I print using Adobe PDF or Epson - I see there is 1 pending document in the print queue with the status "Error Printing".

I tried enabling/disabling the Adobe PDF addons but it failed to solve the problem.

When I turned off protected mode in IE, I was able to print just fine.

Please advise. Printing is not an issue with other browsers or apps.

Are you by chance using AVG antivirus? If so, try disabling it to test print. If printing in protected mode now works, AVG is the culprit. If not, try this:

Start> Type Device Manager in search field> Expand the Imaging devices tree. Delete the printers then reinstall them, and when it asks you if you want to use the existing printer driver or replace it, chose to replace the printer driver.
