Emails vanish off the side of the screen

I've unsuccessfully searched the forums for this without success, but in truth I didn't really know what to look for.

The problem is when I open windows live mail the usual program window appears. New mail is downloaded but if I click on any item of mail in the list, new or old, nothing appears on the screen.
At first it seemed the emails weren't opening, but on closer look at the taskbar at the bottom of the screen it was clear there were several things open under the mail icon.
Hovering over it brought up previews of all the emails I'd tried to open as well as the WLM program screen.
If I click on the preview for the actual mail program the expected window appears on screen.
BUT:
If I click on one of the emails it seems to shoot off the left hand side of the screen and out of sight.
If I tile the windows (Winkey+Tab+Cntr) all of the emails I'd try to open show up but, once again, if I click on an email it seems to zoom off the left hand side of the screen.

Nothing I do has got the emails to display on the screen. I've closed and restarted the WLM application several times. I've restarted Windows 7 (home) and closed it left it for ten minutes and then restarted it. I've checked the screen resolutions, positioning and all the settings of the twin screens I use. The screen I'm using for this is the main (left) screen. The extended desktop on the right screen is behaving as expected with all programs.

No other program seems to be affected, it's only the actual mails in windows live mail. I can still open my feeds and contact list from the WLM screen.

If anyone can tell me what's happening here, and better still tell me a solution to the problem, I'd be very grateful. I've tried everything I can think of without success.

Thank you for responding. Yes I've run a full virus scan with ESET Safe Security and backed that up by running Malwarebytes. Nothing has appeared on any check or test I've done. It's strange it's only this one thing that's happening. I've transferred my account onto a duplicate WLM on one of the other computers on my network and it's working fine from there. I would like to get the one on my main desktop back if possible however.

I don't know if this is relevant but I shut down the computer last night and when I booted it up this morning, and when I rebooted yesterday, it was fine but the icons usually on the left of my first (left) screen were all in the centre of the screen. This doesn't usually happen if I reboot.

Success!! I finally found a way out of this. I'll post the solution in case anyone else finds this happening to them. I don't know how I got into this mess or quite what was happening during it, but the way out turned out to be as follows.

I opened an email (which did not show on the screen) and then went to the Win 7 taskbar and hovered over the Live Mail icon. I right clicked on the email I'd just tried to open and selected Maximise. The letter suddenly appeared in the full screen. When I tried to reduce it by clicking the restore button it vanished again but I found it was because the window was maximised as it would be by dragging an email to the top of the screen when windows would automatically maximise it. By opening it on screen again and then clicking on the top bar and pulling it down it automatically returned to it's original size. Since then it has worked as it should.
If anyone has any idea how I got into this, or exactly what was happening to the mail, I'd be interested to hear. Hope this is of help to someone, sometime.
