Richard, I see you're online and I'm hoping you see this. I came across a reply of yours about a shrinking screen in Firefox and you replied with:
"Sounds like you hit the window key and then plus or minus.. Can that be it?"
The user with the question found this to be the solution to the problem. My challenge is that I am trying to use both your reply and 1rosaf (who said "Shift+") and neither are fixing my problem. Not an OS pro by any means so maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you two are saying. I know the Windows key is the one with the Windows icon. My new laptop has a 10-key pad so I am using the "+" on it. Is that not right?
ANY help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
For anyone stumbling upon this, I found the answer myself. With my left finger resting on top of the left side of the mouse pad (not sure what it's technically called on a laptop - the place where you use your fingers to navigate the cursor), I place my right finger at the bottom center and drag up to the top right corner to increase the size of a page. Reversing this motion (top right down to bottom center) will shrink the view. Bad design, IMHO, but it's all fixed now.
If you are using wireless keyboard and mouse, check and replace your batteries. This will also cause the pages to shrink from 100% to 10%.
