How to remove all IE links

Using Firefox, and set is as default, at startup as well as in every corner of W7 I could find, like in some W7 default settings options.
Still it starts every time I click on a url from inside a program.
How can I get rid of this behavior?
    Thanks!

When you say "inside a program", which do you mean?

Even if you click a link within Firefox it opens up an IE window?

    Have you tried this;
Go to Start, Default programs, Associate a file type or protocol, then when that page loads scroll to all the file extensions that you can think of for web pages, ie. htm, html, asp, net, et al and if they show IE as the default click change and choose Firefox. Bit tedious but you only need do it once. If you miss an extension when you next click on a link that uses that extension remember to go into this system to change th association.
    Hope that helps

Will try that, thanks, although I've been doing that, but certainly not as diligently as you describe...
From inside Office 2010 or any other program, like from The Bat (my email client) clicking on a url in an e mail always open IE.

BTW- Is it possible to remove IE altogether or will FF also cease to function (isn't it a shell really?).
I also remember MS being forced to add that option on penalty from the EU authorities i Brussels.

You cant completely uninstall Internet Explorer 8 but you can turn it off, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
    2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
    3. In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.
    4. In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.
    5. You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.
Internet Explorer 8 will now be uninstalled. The system will restart after the installation.

Firefox will function perfectly well after disabling IE.
