I would say that Google Chrome is the fastest. Always has been, and always will be. Especially compared to the performance of Firefox on Windows systems. On Linux and Mac, it's not a bad choice. | My System Specs |

Opera on the other hand has about 1 thing going for it, Speed Dial. It uses JVE (java virtual environment) instead of a Java Plug-in and I've had nothing but trouble trying to do basic things using java ie. games etc. To be honest I use and love Chrome, I'm not a big fan of the aesthetic aspect, the themes not very nice, BUT it does in fact give a much larger viewing area. It's neat and clean and simple. Couldn't say it better myself! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Mini 110 OS Windows 7 Starter CPU Intel Atom Memory 2GB Monitor(s) Displays 1024x600 |

IE8 comes with Windows 7 so you're done! Also, Windows Update provides security updates and the occasional service pack every month. It has a handy thing called "accellerators". I have plenty of other computer problems to work on, I don't need to obsess over solving the browser issue over and over. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number OQO 2+ OS Windows 7 Enterprise Trial 32-bit SP1 CPU Intel Atom 1.86 GHz Motherboard OQO 2+ Memory 2 GB Graphics Card Intel GMA 500 Sound Card IDT Monitor(s) Displays LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 480 (portable) 1280 x 1024 (docked) Keyboard Slide out (portable) DiNovo Edge (docked) Mouse Eraser head (portable) Logitech Bluetooth (docked) PSU 9 Ah Battery (portable) or OQO Brick (docked) Case Shirt Pocket Sized Cooling Tiny Fan Hard Drives 64 GB SSD Internet Speed WWAN or 802.11G (portable) T1 (docked) Other Info DVD-RW OQO Docking Station |

At last we have a sensible answer,
All the "speed" issues, we are talking micro seconds, add ons shouldn't be
needed if a browser is good enough,
Without out add ons Firefox would be dead in the water,
IE8 doesn't need them, its good enough on its own.
I know they are there if you want them, but why bother its good enough without. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home build. well i think it's great that we've got a bit of a choice, and we aren't forced into using a 'one size fits all' browser.
the same goes with all software. i don't think i would like windows 7 so much if i had to use ie8 and whatever version of windows media player is current.
vive la différence!

Its all a mater of suitabilty, for the job in hand, and you prove my point that Firefox NEEDS addons to be popular,
Don't forget Win 7 gives a choice of browsers on installation, so your statement :-IE would be used by most users as it is the default browser and they dont know about other browsers or don't bother to use one.
is wrong, you don't get a default browser with 7.
You can't get away from the fact that people use Firefox because of the addons, be honest how many would use Firefox if there was no addons, | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home build. 1. Video DownloadHelper: With this you do not need to download youtube downloader or any other video site downloader. I can dare say that 99% of streaming videos can be extracted by this extension alone. I have never found a better streaming video downloader anywhere which works better than it. SURPLUS 2. FireFTP: If you are a webmaster you can even manage without installing a FTP program by using it. It is improving with time and has all the functionality of any FTP program. Dedicated program far more versatile 3. Jdownloader/Download Them All: You do not need to install download accelerators if you use one of these download accelerator plugins. DON'T NEED ONE QUITE FAST ENOUGH 4. NoScript: If you are really serious about your computer security from website/browser based attacks with javascript etc. then I highly recommend this plugin. iF YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THAT, SEE TO YOUR SECURITY 5. Adblock Plus: Very useful but as a webmaster I would never recommend this. NOT NEEDED WITH MSE 6. Screengrab: Very useful addon for downloading a whole website page or a selected portion of it as an image. Very useful for screenshots of websites or webpages. SNIPPING TOOL? 7. Shareaholic: Very good bookmarking addon and you can create short links using services like ******* and tinyurl from the browser itself without going to the respective websites. TOP BAR HAS LINKS OF CHOICE.

they are surplus to YOUR requirements.
if other people like to use them, that's their choice, surely?
and for your information:
MSE doesn't block ads, the snipping tool won't save a whole webpage, and you don't know what ******* and tinyurl are for. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |
