here comes another bsod thread

I can't see any minidump files in the one you uploaded. Please following this instruction instead to post your minidump, and also make sure you have set your system to create minidump:

upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the "Crashes and Debugging" section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

Windows 7:
Go to Start and type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Click on the Advanced tab
Click on the Startup and Recovery Settings button
Ensure that "Automatically restart" is unchecked
Under the Write Debugging Information header select "Small memory dump (64 kB)" in the dropdown box
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as "%systemroot%\Minidump" (without the quotes)
Click OK twice to exit the dialogs, then reboot for the changes to take effect.

If you are using any program such as CCleaner, they may clean out your minidump folder, please double check that, if you follow the posting instruction, please run the tool as administrator

I suspect your Ralink 802.11 USB Wireless Adapter Driver is causing these BSODs. Please download and install fresh copy of the driver. Make sure to uninstall old driver in device manager before installing new download version.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

hi. thanks for the reply. i will try what you suggest in the morning. cant do it now, just got back from seeing the pixies in concert and i can just about type let alone do anything complicated!!



edti: uninstalled/reinstalled the driver with no change, ran sfc /scannow and no problems detected.
have memtest running now, currently on 3rd pass with no errors so far. have both sets of ram in slots 1/2.

If you don't see any relief from the system file check, let's get some information on your RAM.

Do you have the part number of your RAM?

Can you D/L CPUZ.
Open CPUZ and take a screen shot of the CPU, Memory and SPD tabs, use the Snipping tool, Start button> All Programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool.
Save to a convenient place.

Then post using this method.

This will give us some information needed to continue.

Did you update your BIOS and any drivers yet?
From the Gigabyte website?

Check the CPUZ Mainboard tab and tell us what BIOS version you have.

is your motherboard the rev 2.0 or the rev 2.1 , perhaps take a look inside your box the revision number is in the very corner of your board nearest the Pin1 end of your lowest PCI slot ............

the compatible memory list for the rev 2.0 is Attachment 89365 and for the rev 2.1 is Attachment 89366

your G.SKILL ram is part number F3-10666CL8-2GBRM and I don't see that listed as compatible ?

the voltage or timings may be mismatched to your motherboard and this could be causing your problems ?

the compatible 1066 ram (set) in G.SKILL shows as part number F3-10666CL8D-4GBECO
