BSOD's Forever

Hey there,

It's a 64-bit system.

The original OS was Vista and was installed on the machine when I bought it from Best Buy. I upgraded to Windows 7 with an upgrade CD purchased from Best Buy.

The hardware is 17 months old. Upgrades are on my specs page.

Endless BSOD's. Sometimes I can go a a week. I had an overheating issue but I believe I remedied that with a new PSU, 2 fans, and a new graphics card.

Please help. I attached three files with some info.

Thanks,
Mike G.

I ran 7 dmps dating from December until now.

I see ehrecvr.exe was running at the time of many crashes, which is a Media Center process. Is your keyboard linked into that or something? I saw an error message about your keyboard, that's why.

This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.

AVerMedia AvStream Video Capture
is old; please update or remove it.

Be sure to update your nVidia GFX drivers to the latest version: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Update or remove Acronis TrueImage.

Update your nVidia storage and RAID drivers, probably found on your computer manufacturer's site.

Upload any new dumps manually, hopefully you won't need to!

Hey there again,

I'm losing it now because I just have to fix and never get to use my computer.

I got a new flavor of blue screen. It reads that there was a problem and the computer was shut down and that I needed to run CHKDSK /F, which I don't know how to do.

In response to Jonatan Kings' advice:
  • What's up with the keyboard?
  • I think I fixed it by connecting the keyboard that came with the computer. I was (and still am) using a bluetooth keyboard.
  • AVerMedia AvStream Video Capture is old; please update or remove it.
  • I looked for new driver but could not find one. I uninstalled the existing one using the uninstaller in the Control Panel and reinstalled the same driver from the Gateway site: AverMedia M791 Driver Version 6.104.64.5
  • Be sure to update your nVidia GFX drivers to the latest version: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
  • Done - I can't remember how but if my computer ever works again, I'll be able to tell because the drivers are on it.
  • Update or remove Acronis TrueImage.
  • Done - using Acronis clean Up Utility at: http://kb.acronis.com/sites/default/...me_cleanup.zip
  • Update your nVidia storage and RAID drivers, probably found on your computer manufacturer's site.
  • Both of these were done using the Control Panel's Device Manager's Driver Update tool.
At the Gateway site, I also installed a BIOS update:
http://support.gateway.com/support/d...&uid=279479611
This BIOS screen seemed to get over-written by NVidia Media Shield.

I also installed a driver for the Chip Set:
http://support.gateway.com/support/d...&uid=279479603

I restarted in Start-Up Repair mode and it attempted fixes. It's saying that a recent driver installation is the problem. It's details reads:
Problem signature
Problem Event Name: SatrtUpRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: Unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21201050
Problem Signature 05: Auto FailOver
Problem Signature 06: 2
Problem Signature 07: Bad Driver
OS Version is 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID 1033
Thanks and HELP!

Hi again,

I'm getting this same type of BSOD now, when I start in Safe Mode. It doesn't say it creates a dump file and it reads:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A9928, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000

BTW, throughout the last couple weeks, while I've been doing these updates, I got 2-4 BSOD's (the kind that do create a dump file).

Please help. I don't know how to get out of the BSOD loop.

Thanks,
Mike G.

Stop 0x7B means INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. I think it might be time to run the Windows 7 setup disc and run the system recovery tools.
