    My First BSOD

Sorry Carl no help needed here
I am posting this more as a matter of interest. All the time I ran Vista and up until now W7 I have had no BSOD. I needed to do a bit of work on some old hardware and drivers needed to be installed. So before I started I did the full image backup as I was expecting it not to turn out that great Anyway as I expected the good old BSOD hit me and as much as I tried in safe mode and so on to get around this no ways. Doing a full restore was the best option and it worked great.

So I suppose the point of this post is mealy to let other know that W7 works great but really does not seem to like old hardware that much. Reading a lot of the problems other members have with BSOD seems to reflect this as well. So if your hardware is not up to it rather don't install W7

It isn't so much the old hardware that causes the problems (although it can) as the old drivers that were written for the old hardware. Usually the drivers were written long before windows seven was even thought of let alone released.

I would say windows seven does work better with new hardware like any other operating system but if the drivers are updated to the newest ones available it handles the older hardware fairly well

Yes sorry you are right but this being very old and the drivers not available for Win 7 I expected nothing more out of it.
