    MSSQLEXPRESS Operating system error 2


    Hi there, this forum helped me a lot on various topics. However this time I have some interesting issues. My event event viewer is leteraly screaming. Anyway here is one of the most common errors.

    FileMgr::StartLogFiles: Operating system error 2(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105) occurred while creating or opening file 'e:\sql10_main_t\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\MSDBLog.ldf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation

    FCB::Open failed: Could not open file e:\sql10_main_t\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\MSDBData.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 21(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).

    The SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) service terminated with service-specific error The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file..

    This is for the volmgr

    Hello ! Welcome to SF !

    I think the Operating System 2 error is "The system cannot find the file specified." seems like either that LDF file is missing or corrupted. Go to that location and see if that file is present there. I think it's best to reinstall SQL that could fix this problem. Does you use SQL Server for Database service or some other Program uses that instance ?

    Dear Captain,
    I tried to reinstall the SQL, however the errors continue to pop up in the eventvewer.

    I receive this error massage.

    FCB::Open failed: Could not open file e:\sql10_main_t\sql\mkmastr\databases\objfre\i386\MSDBData.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 21(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105).

    Try this article Error message when you try to upgrade to SQL Server 2008&#58; &#34;Wait on the Database Engine recovery handle failed&#34;
