    Explorer keeps crashing, rebooting randomly

explorer.exe keeps crashing and restarting. sometimes randomly, but specifically when i try to run a full screen game.
Recently, i was hit with a antivirus soft virus. i managed to successfully defeat it, but i have a feeling this is a lingering effect.
NOTE: do not tell me to simply format my hard drive and start fresh. that is not an option.

Let it run and tell us the result. If it report error, let it run again, perhaps it can fix more files. Repeat that process several times until it say it 100% fix error or until it's "tired" and say It is unable to fix any more

The scannow command will check the integrity of your system files, and if possible, repair them... If this does not you will need to run a repair install ..... this will not effect any of your programs/data and 99% of the time will take care of most problems... That being said, there is the 1% chance that the only way to resolve your problem is a reinstall the OS...

    thanks guys. everything works.
it rebooted, but the antivirus soft flared up again like a bad case of herpes.
i managed to take it out again, and now everything is hunky dory.

Glad its all sorted! Now, a word of advice.. get in the habit of making system images as a part of your backup policy.. its a LOT easier to restore an image, in case of infections, than it is to reinstall the entire os!
