Windows 7: Acer Aspire 5551G

Acer Aspire 5551G

Hello, I bought my new Acer laptop two months ago, which ran great for the first couple weeks. Then, while watching youtube videos, my screen started getting odd square dots all over it. Subsequently my PC blacked out, although the power button was still glowing, which meant that it was still *sort of* on.
Later I installed AVG, uninstalled McAffee, but even after that. and running CCleaner my laptop still kept crashing. Occasionally I would encounter the blue screen of doom before blackout.
My dad, who knows lots about computers, said it was just Firefox encountering an error.
Sadly, just yesterday, my computer crashed on a windowed game (toribash) and it had no connection to internet. Any help would be appreciated very much.

There were no .dmp files included in your attachment... navigate to c:/windows/minidump, zip up the .dmp files and re-upload them...

Sounds like a bad video card. I suggest sending the machine back into Acer for a refund/exchange.

EDIT: Tom- there are no dumps in his minidump folder.

I take it that, there is no other solution then...
Well, you gotta do what you gotta do...
I'll probably go to the store on Monday, but if anyone finds a solution, I would be much obliged

Try testing your temps with Speedfan.

SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer

It could be as simple as an overheating machine.

I am getting rading of +/- 57 C
Whether or not that is bad I do not know.
Also, I am wondering a bit about the defect video card possibility, because, as it is my laptop can run most other regular games (starcraft/borderlands/Just Cause 2) and it may be worth noting that it does not seem to crash on them, particularly because they are fullscreen

All signs point to a hardware card issue, honestly. No way a Firefox error will do that!

You can try uninstalling Flash, and installing the latest version, but I'll be honest, I don't think it will help.
