    BSOD on HP Pavilion dv7-1451

    Hello experts,

My system keep crashed soon after upgrading from vista x-64 into win7 x64. It happens everytime I tried to shutdown/restart the system (which badly required while updating the windows or installing softwares).

Attached is the dump files along with the perfmon check results.
The system is originally vista x64 and upgraded by retail version of win7 x64.

Thanks in advance for any help

Your first .dmp file blames stwrt64.sys (SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec) as the cause for your crash.. Download the latest version from http://download.cnet.com/SigmaTel-Hi..._4-173629.html

Your second .dmp file blames umbus.sys (User-Mode Bus Enumerator) which is a core system file and is not likely to be the specific cause.. It also mentions hpdskflt.sys (HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter) Download the latest version from HP® - Laptops, Desktop, Printers, Servers, and more

    Tews/anyone,

I wonder why but my system could not be shut down again now.
Here are some stuffs I did last time:
    - install some free apps (pdf writer, etc)
    - install HP Office Jet 8500 (failed to recognize my WLAN connected printer, then uninstalled)
    - install Tune Up Utilities 2010 (failed)
Then the system keep giving me BSOD each time it restarts/shutdowns
Attached is the DMP files along with BSOD analysis results (which I don't understand how to read).

    Thanks in advance

The .dmp file is blaming umbus.sys as the reason, but as this is a core OS file, it is unlikely to be the real culprit.. Interestingly, there were some issues with hpdskflt.sys which is HP Mobile Data Protection System Disk Filter, which you said failed during installation... Manually delete this driver from your computer..

Both of the outdated drivers are suspect!!

Installed the HP Smart Protection Guard (including accelerometer.sys and hpdskflt.sys update in the installation) but not sure if it was successful since my system FAILED to RESTART soon after the installation. Now I am getting tired with this notebook. Please HELP :-(
