    COM Surrogate crashes

Ok I installed the latest Shark007 codecs which were released last week I believe and I started getting some hard lockups with the message being "COM surogate has stopped responding". When these errors happened I couldn't do anything but puch the power button because Only the mouse was movable and everything else was locked up hard. Sometimes I was able to log off and back on and that saved a forced reboot. Now the good part......I just completed a fresh install and have nothing installed except for vid and mouse drivers and I went to view a picture gallery which is on a second hard drive and BOOM same error on a fresh system with no Nero or Divx, no codec packs...absolutely nothing except for the current windows updates and I did install my Kaspersky AV...other than that she is blank.

I did update the latest vid drivers with this install and hadn't installed them yet on old setup (was using previous set...Nvidia). Anyone have any ideas why this error has started within the last week or so? Better yet is there a way to stop it? It totally borked my last setup do to all the forced restarts and then more things were popping errors so I just figured a fresh clean setup would eliminate it and withing 10 minutes there it is again. HELP!
