Ok, another one....
Ok, BSOD again. I made the changes you suggested, zip files attached.

It's time for some hardware checks.
First, I notice you have 27GB free space on your hard drive. Here is an event log:I recommend Windirstat to free up as much space as possible. Also, run a disk cleanup: Disk Cleanup - Open and UseCode:Event[35]: Log Name: System Source: Microsoft-Windows-WER-SystemErrorReporting Date: 2010-09-07T08:58:36.000 Event ID: 1018 Task: N/A Level: Information Opcode: N/A Keyword: Classic User: N/A User Name: N/A Computer: DadsLaptop-PC Description: The dump file at location: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP was deleted because the disk volume had less than 25 GB free space.

There are generally three causes for a corruption: 1) A driver has inadvertently or deliberately modified critical kernel code or data. See http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/driver/kernel/64bitPatching.mspx 2) A developer attempted to set a normal kernel breakpoint using a kernel debugger that was not attached when the system was booted. Normal breakpoints, "bp", can only be set if the debugger is attached at boot time. Hardware breakpoints, "ba", can be set at any time. 3) A hardware corruption occurred, e.g. failing RAM holding kernel code or data. I ran WinDirStat and found some files I could get rid of, and will be able to clear a few gigs more, but I don't understand how 27 GIG of space is a problem. Jeez, I can run a Linux machine on that space!
I use CPUID HWMonitor for Temp and voltages, and under a load the CPU never broke 60c. The Hard drive stays at 34c, no matter what I do. I ran two graphics programs, 2 OpenOffice apps and Mozilla, then opened a 250mb graphic and ran it at 16,000x magnification while scrolling around. Temps are fine, and I do check them.
The HD diagnostic will have to wait till I am home and can burn the CD (I don't have any at work).
BTW, thanks for the link to WinDirStat, thats a nice program. Made it easy to ID large sectors of HD usage I did not know were so large. I have too many backups of stuff. I now realize I have 4 backups of all my music files, 20 gigs of extra space.
I said it once before, I am beginning to suspect I have a physical hardware problem. I think I may crack open this case to check the capacitors and such. I have avoided that because I have no experience inside laptops, but at this point I want to know what is going on.
Again, thanks very much for your help.
By 'hardware problem', you mean motherboard?
Short of swapping out the mobo to test with a new one, the only way I know to test it is identify that all other hardware is okay.
Yes, I am beginning to worry that I have a defective MOBO, specifically that I have some of those "exploding" capacitors Dell was caught installing and then refusing to fix. The problems on this computer have been constant since I bought it. BSOD should be the Computers name...............
I ran the HD test, no errors.
Is there a test or benchmark that I can run that would expose problems? Could the Linux installation be causing problems? It is on its own partition, totally separate from Windows. I do not run that OS often enough to track BSOD's, but I don't remember it happening when I was in Linux.
<scratches head> Not sure what to do now.
Since you mentioned Linux, try using it more. The true test is if that crashes.
Try this CPU test: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...t-prime95.html
