help working out start up issue

My mothers toshiba A200 psaf0a - 03m019 . I have just been installed with windows 7 professional - it was doing the samething when vista was on the machine

When she starts it it crashes and has to be hard restarted. This time it will start ok. I haven't experienced it when i am restarting the machine. But it happens if the machine has been off for hours.
