Hello toan626,
Maybe you're using an old version of Yahoo! Messenger that doesn't support Windows 7. Install the latest, stable version. As what Dinesh said, uninstall BitDefender. Then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86 Service Pack 1 CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz Motherboard Asus P5KPL-AM Motherboard Memory 2x1GB Apacer DDR2 667 MHz Graphics Card 1GB NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT Sound Card VIA Technologies High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 733NW Screen Resolution 1440x900 Keyboard Generic Plug & Play Keyboard Mouse Optical Mouse Case Custom Casing Cooling Ice cubes from the freezer ;) Hard Drives SEAGATE 320GB Barracuda® 7200.12, SATA 3 Gb/s, 7200 RPM, 16MB cache x 2 Internet Speed Very slow |

Oh well im using the latest version of yahoo messenger. i just disable bit defender a while ago to restore and i havn't enable it yet ..well i bought bit defender for 1 year and i have 301 days left i really dont want to waste my money like that. but it seem that the problem is gone after i disable the anti virus uhm.......kinda weird | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 x64 home premium |

Uninstall BitDefender as suggested. Install Malwarebytes, update, run a full scan.
Intall MS Security Essentials, update, run a full scan and leave it standing guard.
Type CMD in Start Search box, rightclick result>Run As Admin, type "sfc /scanow" in command prompt to check System Files.
Burn to CD memtest86, boot and test memory for 5-6 passes or overnight.
Burn to CD your HD maker's diag/repair scan, run full scan: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp. Then run a Disk Check
Work through repeat errors in Event Viewer>Admin View by googling text and ID# to see how others solved them. Check also Performance Log (on Advanced Tools page accessed by clicking through WEI score link at Computer>Properties) for errors logged at moment of hang. While on Advanced Tools page check for cued issues at top and Generate a System health report.
Consider a Repair Install | My System Specs | | |

may be the version you using may hav corrupted files... try downloading the latest version again (evn if yu hav) and do a fresh install..... if the same prob persists, then hopefully its due to 3 reasons
1. YMsgr n OS don't hav mutual agreement
2. evn though yur laptop is brand new, may be yur hard disk is having some bad sectors, r even it may be virus attack.
3. even it can be this way.... Y chat rooms will hav some malicious names, spams and that yur BIT Defender may try to block it n hence it closes it....
it can be any way... don't think abt money. yur AV may cost 1000, but yur laptop cost 1000's.. so this is important.. try uninstallin BIT defender n install norton trial version.. yu get it for 30 days.. if yu don face any issues wid it, then purchase for the full version of it....

I've seen it do that with overheating (most likely), dusty fan, or virus. I recommend what others already have- memtest. A surefire way is to back up all your documents to another computer using Apricorn DriveWire and format/reinstall OS. If it's overheating, you'll notice that it will hang or reboot while installing OS or after finishing installation and running for only a few minutes. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Professional 64bit CPU Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz 400fsb x8 Motherboard Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR Memory 1gb Corsair x2 + 1gb Crucial x2 @ 800 Graphics Card BFG GeForce GTX 260 Maxcore OC @ ver 197.45 Sound Card OnBoard Realtek Monitor(s) Displays ASUS MS238H Screen Resolution 1080p PSU Corsair TX750W Cooling Fan Hard Drives Seagate 250gb PATA x2 my laptop keep hanging ! problems?
