    Tracking down a problem

Hi all. Apologies for the long post. I don't know if anyone can help me, but I am having problems and am unable to find the reason. A couple of months ago I started having occasional boot-up problems. As the pc was just about ready to load my desktop I would get either a black or light blue screen. The pc would reboot after a few seconds and windows would load fine. Sometimes (not always)I would get a dump file (attached), other times I would get in the event log the message - event 18 WHEA logger - A fatal hardware error has occurred.
    Reported by component: Processor Core
    Error Source: Machine Check Exception
    Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
    Processor ID: 1

This only happens on average once every 3/4 days and only on boot. It doesn't happen during surfing, gaming or any other time. I have ran Furmark for 2 hours with no problems, done multiple memtest passes without errors, and ran orthos and OCCT for hours with no errors. My system is not overclocked at all. I tried doing a clean install of windows but the error returned. I have also attached the bootlog text file as well as mini dumps. Any advice as to what to try next would be most welcome. thanks...

Not really much to go one, but a blue screen on boot, sounds like a BSOD, check your graphics c

Thanks for the reply. Are the dump files that I attached incorrect ?.
Regards the graphics card, if it was at fault would it not more likely fail or crash in games/ benchmarks rather that on boot ? thanks again.

Going by past experience, when the dump report is not there, you did not follow step 2

Both of these are error code 124, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR . This is a hardware problem and is one of the most difficult to troubleshoot. Please read this article on your bugcheck 124: [2-Int] Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try.

If you are overclocking, return all values to default. Run these two tests and report back after each test.

    RAM test
    RAM - Test with Memtest86+.

    Video card test

Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

thanks for the reply Carl. I ran furmark for over 2 hours with no prolems and memtest86 for 12 hours with no errors. Also ran OCCT and orthos (different modes) , no errors again. My system isn't overclocked. All "reported" temperatures are fine, and there are no errors during gaming or benchmarking. All drivers are up to date, as well as windows updates, and motherboard has the latest bios.Only the occasionally boot problems as mentioned in OP. thanks
