BSOD after Windows update
Hello,
I did a windows update last night and since then I have been unable to load my Windows 7 Professional OS. The computer is stuck in a continuous reboot cycle. I see the initial Windows splash prior to it automatically rebooting. I tried to boot into safe mode and the behavior was the same. The computer was running fine and no hardware changes or other software changes were performed at the time of the Windows update. I cannot recall exactly which critical updates were listed but there were 2 from 8/10 and I think one from 8/24.
I've managed to catch the BSOD by disabling the auto reboot. It gives the following STOP error : 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A98E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)
If I select safe mode, the last driver to load prior to the reboot is "fvevol.sys"
I've tried switching between AHCI and IDE compatible in the BIOS drive configuration with no success.
The computer is an ASUS AP003 with a Pentium E5300/2.6Hz with 6GB DDR2 800 memory. I have a 500GB Seagate ST3500418AS as the primary boot drive.
I also only have the manufacturer recovery CD that will reinstall the OS but I haven't been able to find a "repair OS" selection on that CD.
At this time, I'm looking for any possible suggestions that don't require me to reinstall the OS. I understand that it may come to that but I'd like to get some suggestions to try before that.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
