    Several BSOD's

Lately I've had some trouble with my PC. As you can probably see from the dumps your application collected, it has occured since I moved, which is about a month ago. (funilly this computer has always had problems booting up after I've moved it physically) I've checked everything and re-seated everything... and after some time it has booted flawlessly (before it wouldn't show any video at boot, but everything was running nonetheless)

Anyways, it is no longer an issue as such, but I just want you to know that I have a reason to doubt whether or not my motherboard is 100% up to speed. I've run memtest and I even did a complete re-install of windows after I moved here.

The problem with the PC now, is that I can have it running for a whole day sometimes... but then suddenly it comes up with a BSOD. So I tried using verifier to check the drivers and have spent most of the time last night doing that and it seemed several drivers had issues.. Either when booting or right after entering desktop. The drivers are:
    ndis.sys
    vhiddev.sys
    lycosa.sys (now deleted)
and nvbridge.sys (It seemed like verifier wouldn't load this driver, so sometimes it would boot just fine, but then it would say that it was never loaded... and sometimes it would crash giving me an irql_not_less_than_equal BSOD so I'm guessing that is because it was loaded.)

I also had some drivers from the Creative soundblaster, but I removed those and installed some new ones.. Haven't tested those though. ( I remember some of the BSOD's being caused by ctoss2k.sys and other creative drivers)

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

I was hoping I could find a single driver or such, but it seems I have multiple drivers failing for me which I find very odd. Is this an indication of a hardware failure?

    Thanks in advance

    PS:
I have added my system specification to my profile

And sorry for the wall of text :)

First, please turn Driver Verifier off (Delete Existing Settings in the first screen).
And please let us know what instructions you followed for using it.

Next, IME the Asus P5 series of boards may have issues with RAM settings/timings/voltages when using Win7.
As such, please check both the Geil and the Asus websites for the proper settings and change the settings in the BIOS (IME the "Auto" settings just aren't reliable enough).

Please remove the Internet Download Manager that uses the idmwfp.sys driver - it's the only 3rd party driver that I've noticed in the Driver Verifier memory dumps.

You also have the 2005 version of ASACPI.sys installed. This is a known BSOD cause and should be updated from the Asus support website immediately. It's the Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility driver - and it'll be found under the Utilities or the ATK section of the downloads for your motherboard/system.

Beyond that, you've got 27 memory dumps from 8/24 to 9/06 that cite about 8 different BSOD errors and blame at least 10 different causes. In most cases this is a sign of a hardware or a compatibility problem.

So, please follow these instructions for running Driver Verifier. If these were the instructions that you followed, then post back and we'll run other tests:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

    Then, here's the procedure:
    - Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
    - Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
    - Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
    - Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
    - Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
    - Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:
    Code:
Delete these registry keys (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel

Alright, I just got the newest (2007) version of the ACPI drivers from Asus' website.

I've already removed the internet download manager :)

When it comes to using driver verifier I followed those instructions. Used custom settings and everything except low resources and then I booted up. I got to the Win 7 splash screen and after a few seconds it crashed. So I booted in safe mode, deleted the settings and then rebooted into normal mode and tried specifying only one of the drivers at the time.

Usually it resulted in a BSOD at boot/splash screen, except from when I tried invbridge since it didn't always load but when it did I believe it did crash. The same with idmwfp, it would crash just right after the welcome screen.

Concerning the RAM, do you want me to specifiy more than just the 4-4-4-12 timings? Because I can do so but I'm unsure of the value of the other timings.

    They are currently set to 4-4-4-12 T2 @ 400 mhz and 2.085V ( I did that yesterday )

I'll try and search some forums to see if someone has found something more reliable.

I've heard that the NB Vcore has a lot to say when it comes to stability, maybe I need to change its value as well. It's at auto atm.

And thank you very much in advance

    PS.

I downloaded the ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device but I could only find it listed under Windows Vista 64 bit and not Windows 7. Also it doesn't have an install exe, only a folder called Vista and in that there is a lib, a inf and a sys file.

is this the driver I am to replace and install manually?

I don't know much about the memory settings, so I'd have to suggest going with whatever's recommended by the memory manufacturer.

It appears that your system may not be compatible w/Win7 due to the lack of compatible drivers.
    Try this:
    - In the file that you downloaded, go one level up and look for the AsusSetup.exe file.
    - Use these instructions to run the installer:
    Compatibilty Mode Driver Installation:
1 - Download the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.
2 - Uninstall the current drivers using the Control Panel...Programs and features...Uninstall a program applet. Then verify that the driver/device has been removed in Device Manager
3 - Right click on freshly downloaded driver installation file and select "Properties"
4 - Select the Compatibility tab - and do the following:
    - Click on the "Change settings for all users" button
    - Click on the box to select "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and then select Windows Vista Service Pack 1
    - Click on the box to select "Run as administrator"
    - Click on OK to exit all the dialogs
5 - Right click on the driver installation file and select "Run as administrator"
6 - Let it install and see if that stops the BSOD's.
Also, here's an article on adding legacy devices to Win7: Configure Legacy Devices to Run on Windows 7
Once all that's done, please run Driver Verifier (using those instructions) again and see what we get.

I installed the driver, ty, and I also ran Driver Verifier, firstly, with just the ACPI driver, no problems there, and then marking all the non-microsoft drivers. It crashed at the splash screen still then.

What driver did the Driver Verifier BSOD point to? (the driver may have been named on the screen)
If we don't know that, then zip up and upload the memory dump files so we can analyze them.

If the crash was in the ASACPI.sys file, then we'll have to try the version that I've attached here. This is the Win7 version for my mobo (P6T Deluxe v2) - so it may not be compatible with yours.

As such, please backup your data prior to trying this - as I have no idea of what issues it could cause (I suspect none, but that won't help if I'm wrong!).

Ah yes sorry, it didn't mention any drivers... I think it was an IRQ_Not.... error this time, but I'm not really sure..

Here is the latest DMP file, I that is the one :)

I hope it's okay if I wait to see what you can dig up before I try your ACPI driver.

This one blames mpfilter.sys - a Microsoft Malware Protection Filter driver. Most often it belongs to Windows Live or Microsoft Security Essentials - so I'd suggest removing these programs from your system.

I know the verifier is pointing towards all these different drivers, but what are the odds that I've installed so many malfunctioning drivers on my pc?

You don't think there is an underlying cause to all this? I didn't even load any windows drivers, just the non-windows ones and the ACPI I think.

What does the "0xA" error tell us?

The info on the STOP 0xA error is here: BSOD Index

The memory dump does not point out "bad" drivers - it points out where a crash occurred and attempts to blame the appropriate driver. It is not an exact science, but rather the opinion of an experienced analyst.

The first set of errors told us that:
    - the correct faulting driver probably wasn't listed.
    - the type of errors suggest that Driver Verifier can be used to identify a 3rd party driver if it's faulting because of one of the functions that Driver Verifier tests for.

So, I suggested that you run Driver Verifier.

Assuming that the one dump file that you provided is representative of the error, then it's most likely that Microsoft Security Essentials or the Windows Live anti-malware program is responsible for the error (since Driver Verifier was set to fault on certain conditions for 3rd party drivers - and it did indeed fault on those conditions and revealed a 3rd party driver to be at fault.

As such it's my professional opinion that the MSSE/Windows Live anti-malware programs are the cause of your problem and that removing them completely will most likely fix your issues.

Here is the memory dump analysis. I count at least 88 drivers loaded in this thread.:
