    Application stops working

Every time I run Nikon Capture NX 2.2.4, it stops working when I open a raw file. It will load a jpeg, but with no processing functions.

Here is an entry from the event log:

    Code:
Faulting application name: Capture NX 2.exe, version: 2.2.3.0, time stamp: 0x4b05da3f
Faulting module name: MSVCR80.dll, version: 8.0.50727.4927, time stamp: 0x4a2752ff
    Exception code: 0xc000000d
    Fault offset: 0x00008aa0
    Faulting process id: 0xe04
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cb4a88cebe85a3
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Nikon\Capture NX 2\Capture NX 2.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.vc80.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_8.0.50727.4927_none_d08a205e442db5b5\MSVCR80.dll
    Report Id: 1842bf42-b67c-11df-9351-485b3949f5c5
I am also getting this event with windows live Movie Maker:

    Code:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\MovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\WLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. Component identity found in manifest does not match the identity of the component requested. Reference is WLMFDS,processorArchitecture="AMD64",type="win32",version="1.0.0.1". Definition is WLMFDS,processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32",version="1.0.0.1". Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
Any help is appreciated, particularly with the problem I have with Capture NX

I'm just guessing here - but uninstall all Windows Live stuff and the Nikon Capture NX stuff

See if the errors go away. Try opening a RAW file from the camera in Windows without the program being installed.

yup, uninstalled all of the Win live stuff, and Capture NX. I did a clean install of capture NX, but still the same.

Try opening a RAW file from the camera in Windows without the program being installed
Raw files need a converter ie capture nx, or, in my case I have Photoshop as well. I can go on using photoshop, but NX is by far a much better raw file converter, which is why I'm so anxious to get it going again.
