I hate this. I really do, it is getting annoying and now it keeps happening again and again. Lets your watching a youtube video in full screen and then all of a sudden it goes out of full screen. You put it back to full screen but then it goes out of it again. Now this is not the main thing but an example. Another one would be me trying to to type this thread. I type then all of a sudden it deselects the typing area and I need to click on it again. So there is the main problem. Deselecting areas whatever you selected and then 5 seconds later selecting the area again. This is also effecting games. Causing games to minimize and I have to to select them again. Sometimes in causes games to go from full screen to windows. I don't know what is going on but it is so annoying and it is taking me forever to even write this because of the problem. I don't know if this is the right area for the thread but the problem is just so strange that it is hard to find a place for it. Anyways, could someone please help me. If you have any questions, please let me know.

It is not a flash problem. This is not because of youtube. It is more than that. If I type somehting it deselects the typing box and I need to click on it again. Some for any typing program like Word. Some non flash game but those games you install go to windows for no reason and some games even minimize. Luckely it has stopped for now but that had to have been the longest time it has happened with over 50 times in a row. Usually it is only between 1-3 times. If you want to see an example of this problem in action, go to my youtube video: YouTube - Jazz Jackrabbit 2: Resurrection of Deven Shell - Part 7: Unfair Deaths

27 seconds in the probelm happened. At that time it only happened 1 time in a row but imagine something like that happening over 50 times in a row happening every 15 seconds or close to that, it would be annoying and it keeps getting worse so that is why I need this problem fixed.

Do you have an optical mouse? Is it defective? Check device manager to see if you have any yellow warnings. Change the sensitivity of the mouse. A slight jarring could cause the effects you are seeing.

The thing is though is that none of the buttons on the mouse would cause the game to go to windows or minimize some of my games like UT2004. Yes the mouse could deselect typing areas but not cause my games to go to windows or minimize. Oh, and it's happening again. I just found something. When it is doing this, my computer makes those sounds when it is doing stuff.

Is the sound coming from your hard drive, power supply or any other area you can identify? You will probably need to take the cover off, but be careful and don't get shocked... :o

it is not a bad sound. is that sound that comes from lots of computers when its doing stuff. If you put your hand on the computer you can even feel it but it's not a bad sound and the sound is not the problem. If you want to know what the sound sounds like, I may go and record it but it may take some time.Let me know if you want me to do that.

Sound, as in Hard Drive Activity?

What Anti-Virus Program are running?
Have you scanned for Viruses?
And also Malware, using Malwarebytes, just to rule them out?

Generally, the only sound you might hear is hard drive activity. Of course, you don't want to hear any clicks or unusual sounds. If it's normal hard drive activity, no need to record it. But you did say the cursor jumped out of your Word document when you heard that noise. Just wondered what the correlation was.

not the curser, the word window just unselects and reselects causing me to stop typing and have to reselect it manually or wait til it reselects. I can create another video besides the one on youtube showing the problem deeper.

Okay, maybe we have a lot of processor activity. Check to see if something is grabbing a lot of cpu. Also, I liked the idea of checking for malware and viruses. Sorry, can't recall if Ken or somebody else said that.
And actually, writing to the disk would cause the sound you are hearing. Ken, would that be indexing or something else?

Nothing much, the thing that is taking the most memory is explorer. Second would be internet explorer so it can't be that. I wonder what is writing to my disk, I have nothing running except for internet explorer. Anyone know how to fix the deselect reselect problem?

many thing can be causing Disk Activity.

Indexing would certainly cause some thrashing & HD activity.

But I would think, if the PC has be running for 2-3 days that most of the main indexing would be complete by now.

AntiVirus scanning, and Defragmenting are a couple others I can think of right off that would be create a lot of disk useage.

You might try opening the task manager, and click the resource manager box.

Then look under the "Disk" tab. It should be able to pinpoint whats using your disk.

Well, I found out I'm scanning for viruses right now but this problem happens even when my virus scanner program is not scanningIt happens even when nothing at all is opened, just, my desktop. Hopefully this will go away sooner. You mit find a lot of errors in my posts and that is because of the stupid poblem.

I don't recall, but did you check for malware. Specifically, I'd like you to install malwarebytes, then reboot your computer into safe mode, and run that program. I'm highly suspicious, as you indicated this problem only occurs when you hear a noise (which I assume to be disk activity).
