Hi Steve; welcome to the forums from a neighbor up the road in Orlando. Sorry you are having trouble. I looked at six of the dumps. In those six you have two error codes.

Error code D1, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Usually caused by a device driver.

Error code 7F, UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP. usually caused by Memory corruption, Hardware (memory in particular), Installing a faulty or mismatched hardware (especially memory) or a failure after installing it, 3rd party firewall, Device drivers, SCSI/network/BIOS updates needed, Improperly seated cards, Incompatible storage devices, Overclocking, Virus scanner, Backup tool, Bad motherboard, Missing Service Pack.

Notice that both of these error codes have device drivers in common.

    Code:
    Kernel base = 0xfffff800`0305f000 PsLoadedModuleList = 0xfffff800`0329ce50

    UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
            use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
    Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

The dumps do not point to a particular problem; but they do give us some clues on where to look.

To begin troubleshooting, I recommend that you uninstall AVG. AVG is known to cause problems on some Win 7 systems. Use this uninstall tool: Info > Tool (32bit) - Tool (64 bit). If you have installed AVG Identity Protection, uninstall it with their removal tool: Info > Tool Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place. An antivirus scanner is one of the possible causes listed in error code 7F.

Next please uninstall Zone Alarm. ZA is notorious for causing BSOD's on Win 7 systems. Use this removal tool: http://download.zonealarm.com/bin/fr...cpes_clean.exe. Make sure Windows Firewall is turned on after you uninstall ZA.

You have a number of out of date drivers on your system. Generally speaking Win 7 does not like older third party drivers; they can and so cause conflicts, memory corruption and crashes. The ones in the red font are really obsolete. The following drivers need to be updated.

    Thanks Carl!

I found another post who had BSOD and AVG installed. I have followed the advice given and replaced AVG anti-virus with Microsoft Security Essentials.

memtest was run, not showing any errors.

I am running "sfc /scannow" at the moment

    Thanks again...

    Hi Carl,

Thanks for the tip. An uninstall of Zone Alarm is the next thing for me to do.

I'll replace it with Microsoft firewall.

Very good, Steve. Here is your driver help. I am going to start with the two oldest drivers.

regi.sys Mon Apr 16 11:19:10 2007 - is a driver file from company InterVideo belonging to product InterVideo regi.sys. InterVideo Support - Frequently Asked Questions on WinDVD and other Products. This software is way obsolete. I suggest you completely uninstall it. If Intervideo has a version certified compatible with Win 7, you can download and install that version.

SFEP.sys Fri Aug 03 01:35:53 2007 - Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver Sony eSupport - Electronics - Select Your Model. Updated this driver.

Apfiltr.sys Tue Jun 16 18:09:26 2009 - Alps pointing device OEM - none at http://www.alps.com. You can try to see if by chance this driver has been updated. In addition to the Alps site, try you computer manufacturer's site.

    ArcSoftKsUFilter.sys Mon May 25 04:27:31 2009 - ArcSoft Magic-i Visual Effect http://www.arcsoft.com/public/download.asp

btwaudio.sys Wed Jul 01 09:54:56 2009 - Broadcom Bluetooth Audio DeviceBroadcom.com - Downloads & Support. You might try updating the whole software package.

    btwavdt.sys Thu Jun 25 01:50:13 2009 - Broadcom Bluetooth AVDT Service Broadcom.com - Downloads & Support

btwl2cap.sys Fri Apr 03 20:28:45 2009 - Broadcom Bluetooth L2CAP Service is a driver file from company Broadcom Corporation. belonging to product Bluetooth Software.

    btwrchid.sys Thu Jun 25 01:51:37 2009 - Bluetooth Remote Control HID Minidriver Broadcom.com - Downloads & Support

    iaStor.sys Thu Jun 04 21:53:40 2009 - Intel Storage drivers http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

rimssn64.sys Wed Jun 10 22:22:31 2009) - Ricoh Memory Card Reader driver, OEM - none at http://www.ricoh.com. I suspect that you will need to upgrade your card reader to one certified compatible with Win 7.

risdsn64.sys Thu Jun 11 23:49:37 2009 - Ricoh Memory Card Reader driverOEM - none at http://www.ricoh.com. See above.

RTKVHD64.sys Thu Jul 02 05:42:36 2009 - Realtek High Definition Audio Function Driver Realtek

yk62x64.sys Mon Feb 23 10:02:27 2009 - Miniport Driver for Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller. Marvell: Support

If you need help or have questions, please post. Once you have uninstalled ZA and updated these drivers, especially the ones in red font, reboot and run your system. We may be fortunate enough that this is all fix you need. If you get another BSOD, upload it. Keep us updated.

Zone Alarm Firewall and Windows 7 64 bit = BSOD

    Hi Carl and others,

After removing AVG anti-virus and still seeing multiple bsod, I took Carl's suggestion and removed Zone Alarm Firewall. After this removal of ZA, several days have now gone by, with rock solid behavior on the part of my Sony VAIO.

I found the following August, 2010 posting on a Zone Alarm user forum discussion, regarding ZA and Windows 7 bsod:
    ______________________________

"I seriously doubt that you are going to solve this problem. I am a very, very long-term user of ZoneAlarm, have used it on multiple computers, many operating systems. However, it just plain FAILS on Windows 7 64-bit. I tried for a month in June. Finally quit. It wasn't my drivers, wasn't my hardware, wasn't W7. It was ZA! After uninstall, no more BSOD. Everything now works just fine."
    ______________________________

I'll post a final item about my bsod problem in a few days.

Thanks very very much Carl for your terrific insight and help!

You are welcome, Steve; it is my pleasure. I'm glad you are running smoothly and I hope that continues. When ever I see ZA in a BSOD dump, a big red flag goes up. I still run ZA on my XP machine. You do need to update those two 2007 drivers; they may well come back and bite you.

Waiting for your next update and hoping it is a good report. :)
