    Card reader

Well my BSOD is back with a vengeance. My previous post indicated it was card reader problem and maybe norton. I uninstalled norton but the BSOD is back even worse.

Couldn't get the newest card reader drivers to install, device not found.

Just realised the pc doesn't recognise any cards, it is a 5 in 1 reader. It isn't listed in device manager either. Why doesn't it show up?

I suspect that there's a problem with the card reader

To test if it's the card reader:
    - unplug the system from the wall
    - open the case
    - disconnect the card reader by unplugging it from the motherboard
    - test for further BSOD's.

This may be a long shot but some systems cut the power off the card reader if you use "Safely Remove" on it. You should always use "Eject" or just pull the card. This problem can usually be healed with a restart of the box.

Still under warranty so won't be taking to bits or removing anything just yet

Want to see if it's something obvious before I unhook it and get repair etc.

It is not listed anywhere, in device manager or my computer etc. Has been restarted a million times.

Take it back to the store where you bought it and have them fix it under warranty.

Yeah, that's what I'll have to do eventually. Just wanted to make sure I haven't missed something obvious.

    Card Reader

This might not be relevant, if so just ignore it.

Link for realtek card reader driver.

    Realtek

    This made mine work.

    Driver Changed

At one time that card reader was in my device tree as "Realtek Multi Card Reader" and I obtained the driver at the link posted above. I used a small program to update drivers and it must have replaced it without me noticing. I have no other explanation. If you can find the MS driver that is in the snips it may work for you also.
