problems with installing win 7 home x64

First of all, hello. I am glad to see such a large windows7 following here.

Now let me explain my issue. I read through all of the tutorials and common problems, and have tried them.

I just built my new machine, my first time building a machine from scratch. System specs are in my profile. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

I got it all put together fine, and began to install windows 7 x64 home from the disc on initial boot. Installed fine it seemed, and I began to install my drivers. I began with the chipset drivers, lan, usb, and other drivers included with my mobo disc. Everything was working so far. Then I put in the video card disc and began to install those drivers. It appeared to be working, but when it tried to install the Ati Catalyst Control Center (CCC) it gave an error message and failed. Then it said it must restart to apply the changes, and it did. After the restart it came up with an error saying it was trying to open the CCC.

I then booted into safe mode and removed the video drivers and CCC. Rebooted normally and installed only the video driver. Now it seemed to be better, so I activated windows and began to update windows through windows update. It kept finding lots and lots of updates and would install a few, restart, rinse and repeat. I began to find that some of them would not install and sometimes it would hang on downloading or installing them. For example: Downloading: 12 out of 12.. and it would just sit there. Then after a few restarts and installed updates I got a BSOD. I read the rules for posting a BSOD report, but this pertains more to my fresh install. If I need to post this in another section, I gladly will.

After that when it rebooted it said it was installing updates upon reboot, and I tried once more to update via windows update. There were a few updates that were failing. These two were the most common.

I did some searching online and did not find these forums, . I did find microsoft.com's error code which told me to download the "System Update Readiness Tool" because the error meant a file was corrupt or missing. So I downloaded the 100mb file and when I tried to run it go this:

Upon looking up that error code the only help I could find was to download the same tool. Obviously that wouldn't work, so I was kind of stuck. Coming to that realization I decided to reinstall from the disc which failed with the 800705750 error that I have read about on this site. It erased all the changes and booted me back to my current "disgruntled" windows 7 install. I then tried a system restore to right after I installed the chipset drivers and reinstalled only the video driver. Right after installing the video driver, I clicked on windows update and got this:

Since then I have tried a repair install which runs the repair utility and says that nothing is wrong. I keep getting the 800705750 error when trying to install again while booting from the windows disc. I read about the solution on this site which suggests clicking cancel and starting the install over. When I click OK on the box http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/5793/photorle.jpg it just cancels the installation and removes the changes and boots me back to my broken windows 7 install.

Im really at a loss as what to try now. I apologize for the long thread, but I always figure the more information I give the easier it may be for someone to analyze my problem and help more efficently. Thank you for your time. If you have any other specific questions please feel free to ask.


edit: i cant get any programs to run or install in the current installation of windows so i cant get a BSOD report like requested, this is also an OEM version ordered from newegg.
