Uninstall zonealarm
Do you have a webcam or something called vimicro camera? Very old driver.

Just realized you don't have any .dmp files. Please do the following:

thanks for the quick reply.
so it's zonealarm that's causing the crashes?
what would be a good firewall to replace zonealarm, or should I just windows firewall?

how do I upload the .dmp file?
the "run a system health report" part on the instruction thread didn't work for me it says "problem loading page" on firefox.

ZoneAlarm does not appear to be causing these crashes, however it is still a very good idea to remove it.

Zone Alarm Removal tool -> (run in Safe Mode without Networking)

The driver blamed in the single minidump file is iaStor.sys - Intel Storage Driver.
iaStor.sys Fri Jun 05 13:53:40 2009 (4A287AA4)
It is dated pre-Windows 7 release so it needs to be updated.

Either find a chipset update from Dell - Dell - Drivers and Downloads

Or run the update utility from Intel -

Also, do you happen to use a RAID?

If problems continue after the driver update then remove Avast and run Driver Verifier

Avast Removal

Download the Avast Removal Tool (ART) from here -> save to desktop.

Boot into SAFEMODE - NO Networking. Then go to desktop, RIGHT-click on the ART icon and select Run as Administrator.

When complete - re-boot.

Install MS Security Essentials -->

Then reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings -
START -> type cmd.exe -> right-click -> run as administrator -> type netsh advfirewall reset press enter
Driver Verifier

See here - Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Thanks reventon, I've removed zonealarm and updated Intel matrix storage from Intel....hopefully this will solve the problem.

I do notice I have a process called RAID monitor in task manager, but I have no clue what that is.

Also I would like to know if I should just stick with windows firewall or get another one?

Stick with Windows Firewall - it is good enough.
