New Comp - BSOD - Please Help

    Hello everyone,

I just finished building my new computer and I keep getting a BSOD. I'm really hoping that it's something simple that I did, and that someone can figure it out for me.

The BSOD doesn't happen constantly, if anything I would say that it is irregular. I've had the computer running for a good two hours without seeing it - but it generally happens once or twice a day at least. I thought it might be an issue with my speakers and my realtek hd audio manager - but I disconnected the speakers and it still happens.

    To the Problem:

Out of nowhere, the computer will blue screen - giving me a 'Stop: 0x000000f4' error. It will then crash and pull up to a screen asking me to choose a boot device. I noticed the last time, however, that before the boot device screen came up - there was a 'no hard disk detected' error.

    For some basic comp info:

    Windows 7 64 bit
    Full retail windows 7
I just put the system together about two days ago, including OS installation.

Western Digital WD10 01fals-00y6a0 hard drive
    Nvidia GeForce GTX 460
    Intel i7 950
    Asus Sabertooth x58 motherboard
    ASUS vw266h hdmi widescreen monitor
Antec TruePower New TP-750 Blue 750W Continuous Power ATX12v

I'd really appreciate any help with determining the cause of the problem.

    Thanks.

Doing a google search that can be a hard drive problem - make sure it's on the main SATA 0 channel. Check the BIOS setup for the hard drives. One fix I saw was to reset the BIOS.

Another potential is memory. With the PC powered off reseat the memory modules and if it continues try with just one memory module installed and if it's OK, add a second one and then try again and if OK, add additional memory modules one at a time (if you have more) until you find the culprit.
