Numerous BSODs with various error codes

    Hi!

I recently assembled my new PC and installed Win7 Pro 64bit but I keep getting BSODs. It started pretty early and it was almost impossible to install all necessary Win updates. I also reinstalled win7 two times. Same Problems.

    Some Example Error Codes:
    IRQL_not_less_or_equal
    Reference_by_pointer
    pfn_list_corrupt
    page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
    bad_pool_caller
    Bugcode_USB_Driver

    I ran...
    ...Memtest 86+ --> no errors
...Prime95 --> stops after some minutes.

I updated all/most drivers and BIOS.
I tryed to increase RAM Voltage.

Nothing worked. Now I am desperate. Crying...;-)

By now, after so many BSODs, I keep getting program crashes. also Firefox regularly crashes or other applications. I guess the Bluescreens messed up my installation by now. But when I reinstal everything it starts over again... Did it 2 times...

I have a Seasonic 380W, but I was told numerous times that it is sufficient power for my configuration. What do you think. Could it be broken?

Otherwise I could only still suspect RAM, Mainboard or even CPU???

Please help, I really appreciate your efforts. thanks in advance!
    Thanil

    P.S.: see sys specs below...

From what you describe, this is a hardware problem.
What exactly happens when you run Prime95? What test do you run? (Large FFT, small FFT, blend?)
Please run this free hard drive diagnostic: HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

It's possible that the PSU isn't sufficient to power all of your equipment, but the only way to tell is to get a more powerful one and try it. I would seriously consider trying this, but purchase a PSU from a place that will let you return it.

Wireless USB devices are known to have issues with Win7 if using Vista drivers. I would suggest a wireless card that plugs into your motherboard as they are more powerful and more reliable. If you can't afford that right now, you MUST have Win7 drivers for your wireless USB device. If you use Vista drivers problems with that device could continue.

I think you have issues with your Catalyst Control Center (from errors in the MSINFO32 report), please uninstall that. When updating video drivers, only download the drivers (lower down on the page) - not the entire Catalyst Control Center package.

There are known issues with some versions of Daemon Tools and the NEC USB 3.0 drivers - but don't do anything about this just yet. I mention it just so we don't forget them.

Are you using a USB device with ReadyBoost?

    27 memory dumps
    10 different BSOD errors
    11 different causes blamed
Most likely a hardware issue, although there are indications that it may not be (things like the sptd.sys error that's associated with Daemon Tools). OTOH, the STOP 0xC4 Driver Verifier error points at the OS Kernel - which is extremely unlikely and is suggestive of hardware error (this depends somewhat on the settings that you chose for Driver Verifier).

What settings did you use for Driver Verifier?

Uninstall Daemon Tools as it's likely that it caused some issues. Feel free to reinstall it after we're finished troubleshooting.

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:
    How To Find Drivers:
    - I have listed links to most of the drivers in the code box below. Please use the links there to see what info I've found about those drivers.
    - search Google for the name of the driver
    - compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
    - visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
    - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
    - - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference
    - - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers (You can look them up here: Driver Reference ).
Please pay particular attention to any dated 2008 or earlier:
    Code:

    fwlanusb.sys Thu Dec 14 12:04:55 2006 (45818437) - AVM FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#fwlanusb.sys
    ZCinema_SRS_amd64.sys Wed Aug 15 15:28:11 2007 (46C353CB) - Logitech Z Cinema with TruSurround HD Driver - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#ZCinema_SRS_amd64.sys
    ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005 (42476C4C) - Asus ATK0110 ACPI Utility (a known BSOD maker) - http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html#ASACPI.sys

After all this is done, monitor for further BSOD's and post back if they occur.

Problem could be CPU, ram or mobo. I know you ran memtest86+ but...

Pull one stick out and run Prime95. Does it pass? Swap memory and try again. Let us know.

Do you have a spare video card, or perhaps can borrow from a friend? Run Prime95 with that.

Go into your bios and reset all to default.

Just want to isolate which component, if any, is causing the problem.

    Realtek adapter driver is good.

    Is your Powercooler OC'd?

First of all, thanks for all the tips.

    Concerning the driver remarks:
I downloaded the Asus, Zcinema and wlanusb from the manufacturer websites, so they should be the newst versions, win7 compatible. I don't know why the above analysis shows really old dates...?

I believe it's something with the hardware. By the way, according to Asus homepage, my CPU is not officially supported. It says that th Mainboard supports the new 45nm technology (for which the"e" in 245e stands for) but on the supported CPU list exactly my 245e version does not appear! that's ridiculous. All other versions are supported with"e". Could this be the Problem?

I'll try to run it with one memory stick. Also i try to get a new PSU.
What Watt class would you recommend? I really thought 380W would be enough, it was confirmed by many computer friends...

I let you know asap what happend.

    500 - 650W
    Look at newegg.com for pricing.

Contact Asus and find out about the CPU.

Let us know how the memory test (one stick at a time) turns out.

FYI - I've made a special study about the ASACPI.sys driver. The 2005 version is installed when you're installing Win7 and it comes from the Windows Update servers. The version on the Asus website is dated from 2009.

As for the dates, they are an indicator of how old the software is. And, since Win7 was released in May 2009, anything earlier than that may not be compatible. In particular we've found that wireless USB devices using Vista drivers are prone to errors. So, if you're getting errors, it's possible that these drivers could be the cause - and the way to eliminate them is to either update them or disable them (by renaming from .sys to .BAK).

I agree with Lemur - contact Asus to find out about the CPU being supported.

Thanks for all the help! problem is solved now. It seems the memory was incompatible!

After many weeks ASUS told me that the CPU is compatible, though it's not onthe official list. Then I bought 4 GB Kingston value RAM and now it works fine!

by the way, I really do not agrre that you suggested 500-650W PSU for this configuration....!

but anyway, thanks for your help! I learned a lot about BSODs :)
