    BSOD using Opera

Hi, sorry for yet another bsod thread. So far my Windows 7 laptop has been performing brilliantly but I've ended up hitting a bsod wall. It's happening on average once a day.

I'm getting the 'driver not equal or less than' (I think) show up on the bsod and have a file to attach with the minidump issues, I think it has four or five separate occurences in it.

I can't work out what is causing it - I thought it might have been an update (codec) that came through the HP assistant but I have removed that, and while it worked out for a few days, the bsod is back.

Help! I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to technical stuff. I have filled in the user specs in CP as much as I can, if they don't seem right let me know what you need.

The opera aspect is because it only happens when I have opera running :) I don't actually know if it's related.

    thanks in advance!!

    Hi,

    athr.sys blamed for all BSODs.

I believe this to be (and I can only guess because I don't have the info collected from following the https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html ) your Wireless networking driver? (it's definitely a networking driver)

So - update from your laptop manufacturers website.

If problems continue then please follow the posting instructions exactly.

    Regards,
    Reventon

Nope - I did find it though. I chased up the driver and have installed a newer version so I'll have to wait and see if that works out. In the meantime I have followed the bsod instructions you're linking to (I found them using the search function). The second one works if I copy/paste it though, just not to click.

Apparently this is a fairly widespread issue I have attached the extra files to this post though.

    Is Windows 7 . . .
    - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 32 bit
    - the original installed OS on the system? yes
    - an OEM or full retail version? OEM home premium

    - What is the age of system (hardware)? about 11 months since purchase
    - What is the age of OS installation? Hasn't been reinstalled.

Ok - that is basically what I wanted the other info for.

However - while looking through it I did spot a few more problems.

    Code:
Application popup: Windows - Application Error : The instruction at 0x7775fc77 referenced memory at 0x00000014. The memory could not be written.
You have got many messages similar to that one lately - they may have appeared in a pop-up window? I have a feeling that it may be referencing a HP program as there are also a lot of records of APPCRASHES under hpasset.exe and HPSF.exe in another log.

However, my main concern at this stage is actually with the HP Wireless Assistant program as it is likely that that is interfering with your wireless device driver and causing those BSODs.

You may want to remove it at some stage. Use Revo to make sure you get rid of it completely - Revo Uninstaller Pro - Downloads

No I haven't had any errors like you describe show as pop ups that I can think of at all, actually. I've had programs shut down but again mostly Opera and is fine on restart of the program itself.

I will remove the HP assistant though, I can't say I've found it a fabulous resource or anything it's just 'there'.

    Thanks :)
