"User profile cannot be loaded." I want my profile back!!!

I've got my user profiles stored on my data drive (C: OS drive/D: Data drive) running Win 7 Ultimate. This morning, I booted up my computer and Windows couldn't find the D: drive due to a simple drive mounting issue. I resolved that issue and the D: drive is now permanently mounted. My problem is, now, every time I try and log into my profile, I get logged into the temp profile even though D:/my user profile location is available.
I've reviewed http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/13...ot-loaded.html and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us. Both of those articles say to delete the profile and then re-create it. Why does it have to be such a PITA? My profile directory is over 200GB and will take forever to copy back-and-forth. I'd love to be able to just force my profile to login to the proper directory instead of the temp directory and skip all the 'delete/re-create/copy files' business.

This is Windows 7...things should be easier.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Boot from your install DVD -> Repair computer -> Startup repair options -> Command Prompt -> type:

    net user administrator /active:yes

This will enable the built-in admin account. To disable it type net user administrator /active:no.

I've already got an administrator account that I created in order to resolve the drive mounting issue that started all this. I'm able to log into that account and the profile is located where it should be (on my data drive). I appreciate your fast response but am not sure how enabling the default admin acct will resolve my issue.

I meant you could enable the hidden admin account in order to be able to log in to Windows in case if your current profile was broken.

How do we resolve the issues with logging into other password-protected User Accounts, if we already have administrator control? The "linked" directory will only show the administrator account, and will not read any new password-protected "user" accounts, even though they show up everywhere (almost everywhere, except the one directory that controls it all). How do we fix this without resetting administrator and losing our current settings? We should be able to have password-protected users (more than one), on our laptop and with Windows 7. Please tell us how to fix this??
