Incompatibility issue with Windows XP (Dual Boot)

Has anyone experienced having trouble booting to any of these two OS (7 and XP) after dual booting them? Cause I did. I decided to dual boot this PC which originally has Windows 7 Ultimate as OS with XP so that I'd be able to use Visual Basic 6.0 for school. I managed to dual boot the two with the help of a 3rd party software (EasyBCD 1.7.2). XP works just fine, but 7, on the other hand, has been randomly freezing when I'm using it. Booting 7 is also becoming a chore after encountering its first freeze. I had to had Windows 7 installation disc repair the start-up of 7 just to use it. It happened several times until it came to the point where 7 no longer boots at all. The same thing happened to XP as well after it first encountered its first freeze.

I am thinking of hardware issue with the freezing (specifically the RAM), but being unable to boot with any of the two is already a software issue in my own personal perspective. Can anyone help me clarify what the problem in this PC is?

I have dual booting OS (7 and xp) with no problems (installed on different partition).
Have you try to update your windows and do check disk (error checking)?
For visual basic 6.0 , why dont U use windows xp mode?

By XP mode, did you mean running the installer in compatibility to Windows XP? Also, how were you able to fix the boot manager of the two OS after installing them in two different partitions?
