    Corrupt font after "SCAN" virus...

    Cherrio,

Got the "my computer scan online" virus off Facebook ;clicked close button- kaplow.

    Formatted 4 times now
Ran- hi jack this, norton, avira, malware bytes, msoft sec essentials. which found the trojans first go but all the rest come up ok multiple times. and the font systemwide is garbled and crappy.

The particulars = When video card is updated to 2010 driver (geforce 6600. yeah a 05 card) the font is normal and videocard wont work.

When i format the font is clear for a few minutes then garbled back again for good.

    should i get anew card?

    Bless.

screen capture has eluded me so far

    1. Reformat and clean install the system, make sure there is no malware
    2. Get the right driver for your card, GF6600 is quite old and not every driver will work - not necessarily the latest (know this from my own experience, a few years ago I had GF6600 AGP8x)
    3. Stress test it FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
    4. If you see any artifacts at standard clocks, especially if you see them before you log in to windows, that means the card bit the dust. Hopefully not.

Cyber, Thanks for all the tidbits,

please elaborate what is the clean install you speak of? I have a two hard drives one is FAT and one is ntfs and it nixed the fat32 install. Would try and use the other 80gig hd but a nogo. I di hit delete whole drive this time but is it on the boot drive?

the rest of the card diagnostics ill try and locate around the net.

    cordially...

    T.

Reformat and clean install the system - I mean so you are absolutely sure there is no malware and that your system is "healthy". Skip this if you're sure.

    1. Have you stressed the card yet?

    2. I understand you have had a virus recently? Only if you have been affected by a virus recently, I'd love to recommend you reformat the partition and do a clean install.
