Windows 7: "Windows Explorer has stopped working"

"Windows Explorer has stopped working"

I get the above dialogue box message just after Windows opens. Once the message appears I have only limited control over the desktop.

The dialogue box gives 2 options. 1. "Check online for a solution and restart the programme" and 2. "Restart the programme". Once I have taken either of the options, the dialogue box disappears and I have normal control over the desktop. However within 10 seconds it returns and I have limited control again.

My OS is Windows 7 64bit. I have installed all the updates and installed the latest version of Internet Explorer. I have run my virus app. and there is no virus.

Please advise if I need a complete reinstall or if there is a fix.

Right click on the explorer.exe process in Task Manager...Processes tab and select "Create Dump File"
Once the dump file is generated, zip up the file and upload it with your next post.

If it's too big to upload, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link to it here.
