Good job on narrowing down the variables bigalmax. I had a feeling it was the network drivers. Now we just need to get Asus on the horn and get them to release some new drivers.

That's what bothers me... the drivers are made from Intel not Asus and are digitally signed by Microsoft (which means the drivers have been tested to comply with Windows 7). Also, while I was researching the Intel 82583V Chipset I found it extremely popular in IBM mainframes... so I'm about 95% certain it is the Intel network drivers. 5% certain it might be something else but can't think of anything of the cause.

I wonder if it could be a resource conflict somewhere... hmmm.

I have the same motherboard. I did the same thing as bigalmax. Went out and bought a NIC and placed it in the PCI slot. Disabled the integrated Intel NIC. BSOD's went away. I dont understand why this hasn't been fixed by ASUS and Intel yet.

Please let me know if I can do any testing or offer any help. I work in the IT industry and wish to offer my support.

    Thanks,

Well so far, no BSOD's with replacement NIC... however, my Northbridge temperature finally reached a high of 51 C... Just out of curiosity what is everyones NB temperature at after leaving the computer on for a while?

I'm just curious because I removed the stock paste on the heatsink of the MB and replaced it with some Arctic Silver thermal compound.

    While 10% CPU...
    CPU: 37
    MB: 28
NB: 48 (seems to be the highest of the bunch)
    SB: 37

Just an FYI, the integrated NIC may be intel by design, but the NIC itself is not the same as one that would not be integrated onto the motherboard. I have used several of these non integrated intel NIC's in the servers I have at work and even teamed them together for faster transfer speeds.

What I am saying is that ASUStek has to make some tweaks to the original manufacturers drivers for integrated devices, in order for the integrated device to work with their hardware.

For example Dell Inc. modifies the drivers for many integrated devices on their laptops/desktops.

This is true for almost every integrated device on the market.

With all that being said, you can get away with installing original manufacturers drivers too; but they dont always work.

As far as heat goes, I have never seen anything over 40 Celsius on my system.
