Win7 Opening Up Multiple Programs By Itself During Re-Start

I had a very unusual problem. I could not figure out what happened.

It started out that during a session of copying many files accross from a large memory stick to a hard drive the copy process stopped responding.

I went in to the control panel and told it t0 end the task. Windows explorer completely ended. Then I found I had no start button at the bottom, and there were no icons. The only option for me to use to start the system was with the re-start button.

After the re-start, I saw the most unusual thing. All the applications that were on the desktop and in the tool bar started to open like mad! All the applications and programs were starting at high speed!

After the succession finished I closed all the windows one by one with the mouse.

Now, every time I re-booted, the computer would go in to a frenzy of opening windows. I scoured the net to find an answer and found nothing substantial.

In the end, I took my image copy, and re-imaged the system back. This was not the way I wanted to fix this problem.

Maybe someone here can enlighten me about how I can fix this problem if it occurs again.

By-the-way, the Startup folder was empty. So, it was not the Startup folder that did this.

explorer.exe is your taskbar and whatnot.

Next time you kill it from taskmanager, just select run from the menu and type explorer.exe :)
