Tech-Wiz's, figure this one out!

I have a BSOD that might stump you all even the best possibly.
09' Dell Inspiron 1545 model no PP41L OEM Windows 7

Ive been looking for posts similar to my situation.
After startup right after the second Dell screen, (The first one gives you the option of f2 f12 and f8)
the BSOD hits, and auto reboot occurs. If I start up in repair I get to what appears to tobe the log in screen and it tries to repair, but cannot. I inserted the Windows 7 reinstallation operating system, changed the boot sequence to cd, the install starts up,I picked custom, completely wiping my files, but I dont care. It gets to expanding windows files and it says "Windows cannot install required files. make sure allfiles required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error Code 0x800700001

I restart ny computer changed the BIOS boot sequence to default apply, and instead of the BSODI get Bootmgr is missing. So on top of BSOD I have dug a deeper hole. I cannot format my computer I tried. Any Ideas?

sounds like the BIOS is hosed. Have you recently, or ever, updated the BIOS?.
Also, you might try removing the battery, and pulling out and re-seating the HDD. I had a Dell of that vintage that went through a lot of HDDs....

I changed my BIOS to default. I get past the Dell screen (f2 OR F8, F12 Button screen) then I get a black screen that says
"BOOTMGR is missing
Press cntrl alt,del to restart.

anything I can do or a quick fix?

Also i pulled the battery out and put back it, if that counts for anything.

Hi! dellwenttohell, welcome to 7F :)

All I had to go on was your error code, and I found this by one of our esteemed members Jacee. It is the quote she posted in post #3 here: Error Code (0x800700001)

Change any reference to vista to win7. Sounds like you can get to your BIOS to change the boot order, but if you can not get to Disk Management through safe mode or you do not have a win7 disk you may be out of luck.
There are ways to make one though....

Do everything that Anak said to the extent that you can. Did you pull out and re-seat your HDD? Best to do the same with RAM as marginal component connections can cause all sorts or problems. If Win 7 was the OEM system, you might pester Dell into giving you a newer version of the restore/recovery CD (DVD). 2009 was pretty early in the Win7 cycle as I understand, perhaps they will give you a more recent version if you ask... I'm not an expert in Win 7 as such, but I've been building machines with various versions of Windows since Windows 3.1. There are many folks on this board who are much more in tune with the vagaries of 7 than I am, I'm offering only basic 'start at the bottom' sorts of troubleshooting advice. Best of Luck
