BSOD Help

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide...

Is Windows 7 . . .- x64 ?- the original installed OS on the system - NO, was Vista, and did 7 upgrade (to Home Premium x64), no problems with install- full retail version (but came from HP, was a free upgrade with purchase of computer) - What is the age of system (hardware)? >1 year, but <1.5 years- What is the age of OS installation? about 1 yearComputer is a hp Pavilion dv7, 4 GB memory
I get BSOD a few times in a row, and then I am fortunate that system becomes stable, but it is becoming less stable
I own a Rebit (similar to an Apple Time Machine), and am currently backing up files.
I also have a Movie file that shows what happens when the BSOD shows up (STOP: 0x000000f4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xfffffa8004e81b30, 0xfffffa8004e81e10, 0xfffff800025ca5d0)

Before this error, I was getting a BSOD related to WINDOWS INPAGE KERNEL.
I also tried uninstalling Norton Internet Security 2011 in safe mode due to a friend's suggestion, but this also caused a BSOD (twice)

Hello and Welcome !

Seems like athrx.sys i.e.Atheros Extensible Wireless LAN device driver is causing the System to crash please download a new version drivers and install it.

Hi, should I try to find this on the hp update page for my computer, or should I look somewhere else? I presume I would find the driver, and just double click to install?

Sorry, I know just enough about computers to do the basics (ie. I did a full reimage and reinstalled drivers on an XP desktop a year or two ago)...

open your Device Manager, selecting hidden devices under view, uninstal the driver and restart the computer

You may also be having disk problems. Please run chkdsk /f from an elevated command prompt. If it passes, defrag your disk.

Try this Driver and see if it works make sure you uninstall the old version first.

Hi,

I wanted to take this one step at a time, so I wanted to try some of the suggestions.

I found a web page on hp with drivers for my computer.

I downloaded the following to my desktop:
AMD Video Driver (sp45618.exe), Released 2010-03-04, 110 MB, Version 8.632.3.0

Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 (sp45524.exe), Released 2009-10-19, 20 MB, Version 5.60.18.8

I then right clicked on each file and ran as an administrator.

I have been able to restart 3-4 times so far.

Windows 7 didn't ask me to restart, how do I know if these drivers installed properly?

Or am I just better off just reimaging with a clean Windows 7? Performance is usually not a problem on my system, no matter what those reports say.

Well, your initial complaint was the BSODs. Are you still getting them? If not, looks like we're good.
