You can see if ATK64AMD.sys will work. It is a Vista driver and it may be OK. You do need to uninstall the webcam; it is obsolete and not compatible with Win 7. Let me know how you do with the Adobe driver. Once you get those two 2008 drivers taken care of, you may be OK.

The dump file you uploaded is corrupt and I cannot open it.

i do not understand, what about the ATK64AMD.sys?

when you say uninstall the webcam, do you mean for now or for good?
how will i use the webcam if you meant for good? are we just trying to find the problem so we can solve it? or is this the problem?

    i re-zipped and re-uploaded the dump file.

    thanks again!

Uninstall the webcam for good. It is obsolete. Upgrade to a new webcam certified compatible with Win 7. It is part of the problem.

By its date, ATK64AMD.sys is a Visata driver; it is not a Win 7 driver. Some Vista drivers work fine with Win 7. Third part device drivers for Win 7 are dated July 13, 2009 or later. You will just have to see if it causes any problems. It may be fine.

To answer your earlier question could this be a hardware issue. Yes it could. But we have have to get all known potential causes of BSOD's out of the way before we work on hardware. Troubleshooting is often times a process of elimination and that is what you are faced with. When dumps don't give us a specific clues we look for clues and begin a process of elimination until we find the cause.

I was able to look at your latest upload. Thanks much.
Error code 50, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS.
Notice the usual causes. I see that you have Eset installed. For the purposes of troubleshooting, I recommend that you uninstall it using this removal tool: Tool. Eset is known to cause BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. Download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in its place and make sure Windows Firewall is turned on. You can try Eset again after you get your system stable; but I do not recommend doing so.

Different error codes usually mean a hardware or hardware related (drivers) problem. That is why I am keying on getting your drivers cleaned up. You can try your webcam again once your system is stable. However, obsolete webcam drivers have a track record of causing problems.

The out of date Adobe driver is still loaded on your system.
    adfs.SYS Thu Jun 26 16:52:37 2008
You can navigate to to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, find adfs.sys and rename it from .sys to .bak. Reboot and it will not load. This is going to break whichever Adobe program this driver is associated with. You can then uninstall that program and download the latest version.

Uinstall Eset and take care of the Adobe driver. Reboot and see how your system does. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will begin testing hardware.

Uninstall the webcam for good. It is obsolete. Upgrade to a new webcam certified compatible with Win 7. It is part of the problem.
my webcam is internal. its in my laptop. i understand the driver is obsolete but it is the newest one available from asus.

is it a compatibilaty issue with other software/hardware? because the majority of ppl i have spoken to have the same driver on the same hardware with no BSOD that is linked to it.

is the re-uploaded dump file working?

also notice that the BSOD i have been getting have all had different errors. whats up with that?

just noticed the part about the more info in 15. ill be here all night. i want to solve this issue once and for all.

    thanks again

    many thanks,

i have updated adobe apps using the adobe updater, how do i know if adfs.SYS got updated? where can i check? by right clicking on adfs.sys and going to properties, i get the windows attached. it looks like it did in fact get updated, right?

if it is not updated i will rename both of adfs.SYS and the webcam driver to .bak as well as uninstall eset nod. I will then use my system normally until and if a BSOD occurs.

thanks again, i really appreciate it

You are very welcome and thank you for the good job of following instructions and reporting back.

That date of 11/10/2010 is the date you updated, modified the file. It is not the date of the file itself. The fact that the copyright date is 2003-2008 makes me think this driver is not updated. You can check it by navigating to to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers, find adfs.sys and check the date. If it is dated 2008, rename it from .sys to .bak. Reboot and it will not load. This is going to break whichever Adobe program this driver is associated with. You can then uninstall that program and download the latest version.

yeah, i thought so too. i will keep everything unchanged for now (so basically i just updated adobe, not necessarily the adsf.sys). if i get a single BSOD, i will .bak both the camera and the adfs drivers and uninstall eset.

im giving this setup one last chance. i will probably post back again if i still get a BSOD after i do all of the above.

    thanks again

You are welcome. Understand that we point out all potential BSOD causes that we see on your system. My method of troubleshooting is to eliminate them all. If the BSOD's stop, I have eliminated the problem. Then I can add things back one at a time letting a few days go by before I add another. This way I can determine the specific cause. It is a known fact that out of date drivers do not work well with Win 7.

Post back and let us know how your system is doing and, of course, upload any new BSOD.

It appears the problem is still here. yet again, another BSOD. i thought the issue was solved however i was wrong. attached is the latest BSOD dump. i will now uninstall eset, and change the webcam driver as well as the adfs.sys to .bak.

i will then wait for a BSOD to occur.

is there anything else i should do?

thanks for helping with such a dreadful experience. I hate upgrading to new systems.

    regards
