I was having the same types of problems. I'am running 500GB Raid0 with a partition running Vista64 and Windows 7.
Windows 7 was completely unstable for me using the same bios settings, or so it seemed. Crashing when moving files, watching movies, gaming, downloading things. Moving large files accross the LAN always crashed once before it went through.

I was stumped because Vista was 12 hours+ Prime stable on the same system and had no such problems. I ran Prime95 on Windows 7 and it was still stable.

What fixed this problem for me was moving up the MCP,FSB and Ram voltage just a notch each in bios. It was the last thing I tried but it should have been the first. Not a single problem since doing that and I have been moving files watching two HD movies and gaming just to make sure. 48 hours on time and zero problems. Hope this helps someone because it worked for me.

I believe the above works, I overclocked the system using AI N.O.S. and ive been downloading large files (1gb+) now for 3 hours, no crash. Yesterday it would crash within 10 minutes of starting to download such files.

I believe that Windows 7 puts more stress on the memory controller and the south bridge which can cause errors to be written by the Ram. This problem is probably worse when the system is overclocked. It worked for me and I hope others will see this because this problem isn't going to go away anytime soon.

    Wait,

So you're saying to up the voltage? What was it at previously? Were you systems overclocked originally?

Perhaps this is a problem with our hardware configuration?

I am running Windows 7 x64, running with a 9850 phenom on a nvidia 790a. I ran into the problem and I made no changes in bios.

Yes My system is overclocked, system specs in my sig.

I only gave general info on the voltages because the needed voltage will be different for every type of motherboard. 790i is similar to my 780i so bumping up the MCP,FSB and Ram voltage might work for you also. I'am at 1.6v MCP, 1.35 FSB and 2.175 for my Ram voltage. Bumping up these voltages made all the difference for me.

Have you tried running the system without the overclocking and seeing if you experience the issues?

Yes I did try with no overclock and the problems were still there unless I raised the voltages as mentioned. My system was also 12 hours Prime stable in both Vista and Windows 7 yet the problem persisted until I made those changes in bios.

Yeah, I've ran prime for a few hours as well on both OSs without any errors.

I'm going to mess with my voltages a bit over the next few days and see what happens. I actually have my system underclocked with default voltages (and I still experienced the problem). So I'm a bit hesitant to focus the blame of the issue.
