    Computer keeps bsoding.

    ok heres the story.

about a month ago i was getting bsod's when i went idle, and once while i was on the computer. i posted details here " Computer keeps restarting - General-Motherboard - Motherboards-Memory "
i then reformatted and no bsod's for weeks. thought my oss install was messed up from bad oc's.

weeks later i go to restart my computer and walk out the room, when i come back i have a error message on my desktop due to a failed shutdown, im guessing that means bsod?

well just a few minutes ago it bsod'd while i was reading some forms.

i had just built this computer, everythings brand new besides cpu/gpu. im currently borrowing a friends 4850 untill 6950 comes out then ill get one of those. and cpu i bought used.

i was getting alot of driver display error popups before the format but havent recieved any since the format untill today, i received one.

also, i had 2x 1.5tb wd green hd's hooked up first time i was having this problem, one was set to a "system" harddrive, i thought maybe that was the culprit and removed them. i re added them last night and it no long says "system" harddrive.

    Is Windows 7 . . .
    - x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 64bit
    - the original installed OS on the system? windows 7
    - an OEM or full retail version? retail
    - OEM = came pre-installed on system
    - Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer

    - What is the age of system (hardware)? new and used
    - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 2-3 weeks, and i reformated first time it was doing this.

You did notice all the disk errors in event viewer right?

    CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

    Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

    CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Thanks for the additional information. I looked at four dumps. Two are error code 124 and two are error code 116. These are definitely hardware/hardware related errors.
Error code 124, WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. Usual causes: Hardware, Incompatibility, May be driver corruption.

Error code 116, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. Usual causes: Video driver, overheating, bad video card, ?BIOS, ?Power to card.
Read the following on error 124: [2-Int] Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try.

Follow ZigZag's spot on suggestion and and run Check Disk. Post your results.

Then read this thread regarding error 116: STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Now test your video card with Furmark following the instructions in this tutorial. Monitor your temps during the test. Post your results.

Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Follow Lemus good advice and update this driver:

I overlooked this driver the first time through. Out of date drivers can and do cause memory corruption and BSOD's. Update this driver.

i will do everything you guys told me to, tonight or tomorrow.

one guy says "CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system."

but im unsure how, ive ran the test on my main harddrive but am unsure how to on my extra harddrives, doesnt give me the choice.
