Windows wallpaper there but no icon, mouse etc

Hi all

I have found today that my win 7 loads up to the desktop screen so that i can see the wallpaper but goes no further, i cant see the mouse or taskbar and if i use CTRL ALT DEL i get a black screen but can see the mouse pointer again but still cannot do anything

anyone else experiencing this? I tried to system restore while in safe mode (safe mode is fine) but still not working after restore

Hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up your taskmanager,move with the keyboard if your mouse is not around.. useing arrows and Tab... End the process explorer.exe....Top left - new - task- (Enter explorer.exe) Check it out!! Your Icons should be back and functioning...Then we'll work from there to finally solve this issue
