Windows Update does seems to be having problems, from the looks of WER. Try installing these updated Yukon drivers: Marvell: Download Drivers

While you may have a legitimate copy of Norton, there's a strong possibility that it's become corrupted. This WILL affect your gaming, so please follow Jonathan_King's advice

You will need another antivirus program while you're testing the system to see if this has helped. Microsoft Security Essentials is reliable and doesn't affect your gaming as much as Norton does.

Should you find that the problem was with Norton - then you have the choice to either stay with Microsoft Security Essentials, or to go back to Norton. That's your call.

As for the network drivers - I always suggest uninstalling them from your system before installing new one's. But most systems don't have an easy way to uninstall them - so you can install the new copy over the old copy if you so choose.
