I'm not real sure what's going on here, but will gladly have a look at your event logs.
Please provide this information (even though you're not reporting BSOD's): https://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

    Yes, that's right.

Looks like Symantec may be at fault here, although there's not much info to go on. All I see are errors just like this:
    Code:
    Event[36]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: Service Control Manager
      Date: 2010-10-22T21:37:32.068
      Event ID: 7026
      Task: N/A
      Level: Error
      Opcode: N/A
      Keyword: Classic
      User: N/A
      User Name: N/A
      Computer: Chuck-PC
      Description:
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
    SymSMR130
Try removing it with this tool: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

MSE is the recommended replacement: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

Windows Update does seems to be having problems, from the looks of WER. Try installing these updated Yukon drivers: Marvell: Download Drivers

While you may have a legitimate copy of Norton, there's a strong possibility that it's become corrupted. This WILL affect your gaming, so please follow Jonathan_King's advice

You will need another antivirus program while you're testing the system to see if this has helped. Microsoft Security Essentials is reliable and doesn't affect your gaming as much as Norton does.

Should you find that the problem was with Norton - then you have the choice to either stay with Microsoft Security Essentials, or to go back to Norton. That's your call.

As for the network drivers - I always suggest uninstalling them from your system before installing new one's. But most systems don't have an easy way to uninstall them - so you can install the new copy over the old copy if you so choose.

well i did everything he said and i just started my computer for the first time today and it did the same thing.when the welcome screen came up it rebooted on its own.then it asked to start in safe mode and i just let it time out and start normally and it started right up on the reboot.getting very frustrating.im wondering if i should just reinstall windows.if so what would be the proper way to do this.thx guys for all your help...
