Windows 7: BSOD on HP Elite

25 Oct 2010   #1

Windows 7 home prem 64bit

BSOD on HP Elite

Could someone please help me diagnose what the issue is please. Attached are the dmp files per your instructions.

This computer is new and was working perfectly until 10 days after the warranty is up and then BSOD's all the time now. I am not sure if a windows update as corrupted a driver to something or what.

Thank you very much

1. Your latest crash was caused by ntfs.sys, so check for errors and diagnose your hard disk:

chkdsk /r /f

Disk Check

HD Diagnostic

2. Drivers I'd recommend to update:

jraid.sys Fri Jul 17 18:31:50 2009
JMicron JMB36X RAID

iaStor.sys Fri Jun 05 04:53:40 2009
Intel Matrix Storage

e1y62x64.sys Sat Jun 13 04:16:42 2009
Intel Gigabit Network

RTKVHD64.sys Tue Sep 15 14:02:10 2009
Realtek Audio

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: fffffa8029cec190, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :
	bit 0 : value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)
Arg4: fffff80002d85ab7, address which referenced memory

Thank you very much for the response. I will make suggested changes/updates and checks and see what happens.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Does it only crash when Chrome is running? Do you have any plug-ins for Chrome? If so, uninstall. Or uninstall Chrome, test for BSODs.

Can you guys not tell from the dmp file what is causing the crashing?? Sorry, but not super technical here. Will try to uninstall Chrome, but guessing this is NOT the culprit as I have been using Chrome on this unit since the day I booted it up (for last 6 months) and no problems at all.

Perhaps some plug ins for Chrome or something though. I think I have seen some messages about flash player didn't load properly or something one time?

Its NOT Chrome. Just had computer up and had not launched Chrome yet. Only had one program up (Adobe Bridge). Got message about Windows Explorer had stopped working and then BSOD shortly there after.

Do I need to post an updated minidump file?

I tried to update, of course windows says that ALL of those are the most recent versions available. I was able to manually update the jmicron raid driver. I was unable to find any of the other drivers....rather...newer versions of them.

In either case, none of that helped and things got much worse yesterday. I was getting BSOD in safemode. I do NOT believe these drivers are the problem. I had to do a system recovery back to a few weeks ago. I could not roll all the way back to before the problems started, but got most of the way there. Haven't had a BSOD yet?

In your opinion, would a change to 7 professional eliminate these problems? This is clearly a windows issue as I haven't added any new hardware.

Thanks,

JH
