Windows 7: BSOD's after adding RAM [ tcpip.sys ] [ error:tcpip+7a6cc ]

26 Oct 2010   #1

Win 7 64 bit

BSOD's after adding RAM [ tcpip.sys ] [ error:tcpip+7a6cc ]

Bsod's started since i added a 4gb ddr3 RAM(1333MHZ ddr3 corsair single stick) to my board which already has 2 more sticks of 2gb each(1333MHZ, ddr3 , kingston)
[SLOT1 2GB Kingston 1333MHZ]
[SLOT2 2GB Kingston 1333MHZ]
[SLOT3 4GB Corsair 1333MHZ]

[SLOT4 EMPTY .....................]
They happen every few hours...
I reinstalled(removed and installed) network driver thrice.(didnt reboot the system though)
I reinstalled utorrent once.
The last one happened even after all the reinstalling.

This used to happen before too but it usually happened after continuously running the pc for like 5 days and I fixed it by installing the latest network card driver but this time doing the same doesn't seem to work.

Here below i have attached the minidump files for the crashes...

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If kernel debugger is available get stack backtrace.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000001000000, memory referenced
Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff8800167d6cc, address which referenced memory

Also, since there's a lot of reference to tcpip, I see your Rt64win7.sys once loaded and several times unloaded. Rt64win7.sys - Realtek 8136/8168/8169 PCI/PCIe Adapters. Not sure what's going on there, check in Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Realtek 8136/8168/8169 PCI/PCIe Adapters.

You are welcome. : )

Remove those and install their latest versions. Uninstall Avast, don't forget. You should be well.

No, not more of them, Heaven Forbid!

I would still recommend you update these two drivers:

PowerISO

VMkbd.sys Thu Oct 22 13:51:05 2009
VMWare

I have just had a similar problem, after adding 2 new sticks of RAM, each 4G
Slot 1 2G DDR3 1333 wide
Slot 2 2G DDR3 1333 wide
Slot 3 4G DDR3 1333 narrow (newly added)
Slot 4 4G DDR3 1333 narrow (newly added)

checking the RAM using tools "speccy" and "CPU-Z"
showed while the frequency was matching, at PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
the old and new RAM did not have the same latency specs

I solved the random BSOD by removing the old 2G sticks and only using the new ones
Anyway, as the BSOD started after I inserted the new RAM,
I guessed the fault had to be RAM related.

no BSOD now,

Slot 1 4G DDR3 1333 narrow (new)
Slot 2 4G DDR3 1333 narrow (new)
Slot 3 Empty
Slot 4 Empty
