Windows 7 Freezes Up
Hi there,
I have a HP DV6t Laptop. It came with windows 7 home premium and it was all going smooth until it started freezing up. I consulted the HP customer service and their best solution is to do a factory default. I have done that twice and it did not solve my problem. I have ran memtest86+ for 7 hours and it came clean. I ran sfc/ scannow and came clean too. Ran the harddisk test both short and long which came clean too. I gave up on that and decided to do a clean reinstallation of windows 7 professional. I did this because I installed it on my desktop and it never froze before. Sadly, that has not been the case for my laptop. My laptop is freezing randomly. It could be anytime between couple of minutes to 3 days the most of starting up my computer. There are no useful logs in Event Viewer except bad shut down due to me doing hard reboot. It could freeze anytime regardless of it being idle, simple word processor or games. I have had 2 types of freeze, one it would just freeze and not respond at all or it would freeze and the sound would be stuck in a loop. I have also tried installed Microsoft Hotfix for these freezing issue, but did not had any luck on it. I dont send my computer to sleep or hibernate.
My specs are :
I7 -720QM
6GB Ram
Nvidia GT320M - 1GB
300GB harddisk
I read somewhere that this problem could be caused by incorrect voltages to the RAM. But HP has locked up the BIOS, so I cant change that. Although I did try running CPU-Z and HWMonitor which came back to be at a consistent voltage.
Let me know if you need a full list of the specs.
Thanks
