System Freeze 50% of the time Good evening,
I have been experiencing a problem for several weeks now that has me perplexed. My computer is off during the day while I am at work. I come home, I turn it on, and it freezes (without fail) withing 30 minutes. I restart, and it is fine for the rest of the night.
I previously wrestled with a power issue which was causing a system restart every time I used a graphics intensive operation. However I now should have more than enough power going to any one component, and it should not be an issue. System specs and SysInfo are below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it freeze in clean boot. If not you can find the cause How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If does not freeze, does it freeze in safe mode?
If does in clean boot.
I have a number of suggestions for you. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

I will repost sometime tomorrow with results. Since a clean start requires some prep work before hand I will have to shut down tonight after running msconfig, and see what happens tomorrow when I start up.
I am starting to think that this may be a heat issue, but how the heat value from the first instance and the second instance do not cause the same problem, I have no idea. More to come. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom OS Windows 7 Professional x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2 GHz Motherboard Asus M4A79T Deluxe Memory OCZ DDR3-1600 4GB Graphics Card EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Sound Card Onboard Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Acer AL2016W; Acer X223W Screen Resolution 2 x 1680x1050 PSU Enermax Modu 82+ 525W Case CoolerMaster Stacker II Cooling Zalman CNPS9500 LED-CU Hard Drives 1465GB Seagate ST31500341AS SATA

I would run a Windows Memory Diag on extended tests for no less than 8 hours
I would also run HDD diags.
This can also be a hardware issue.
However, htis could be a Heat, or Power Issue (depending on what else you are connecting to that system, 525W still may not be enough), as well as something not seated properly.
Or a popped capacitor.
I had a system that I kept using after we got hit by lightening.
Everything seemed fine for a while, then started crashing
Tore it apart to find a connector had been sparked and was building corrosion from it.
You just never know where these issues are going to come from. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self Built OS Win 7 Ultimate 32bit CPU C2D E6600 2.4Ghz Motherboard Intel D965WH Memory 4G Kingston KHX5400D2 Graphics Card EVGA GTX 570 HD SC (012-P3-1573-KR) Sound Card On-Board Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 226BW Screen Resolution 1680 x 1050 PSU Corsair TX750W Case In-Win C589 Cooling Stock Intel Cooling Hard Drives 2 x 250 Seagate Barracuda

All temps are fine as reported by Speedfan. Clean startup yielded no freeze or other anomalous behavior. Any thoughts?

Are you checking the temps every fourth or half hour to see if they climb? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Toshiba Satellite S875D-S7239 laptop OS MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit CPU AMD A10-4600M Motherboard AMD Pumori (Socket FT1) Memory 6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-12-28) Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD 7660G Sound Card High Definition Audio Device Monitor(s) Displays Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz) Screen Resolution 1600x900@60Hz Keyboard Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse HP Wireless Optical Mobile Mouse Model FHA-3410 Hard Drives SSD 119GB Corsair CSSD-V128GB2 ATA Device Internet Speed What the local pub, local coffee shop offers. I have speedfan running with a chart that shows temps. They are staying even. Very little variance only a couple of degrees F (91 to 95).
