    ATIKMPAG.sys BSOD - Windows x64 Ultimate

Struggle to find the cause for the multiple error which results in a BSOD

    Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding

    Basic System specs are:
    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
    4GB DDR3 Ram
    Asus P5K3 Deluxe
    ATI 5870 Graphic
    900W PSU

Any help or hints appreciated as I come now to the end of my Windows knowledge and this error slowly drives me nuts as it can occur about 2-4 times per day (and there seem to be lots of other users out there with similar issues)

It is almost the only error occurring on my system. Drivers -to my best knowledge- are all updated to latest versions. All different ATI drivers since 10.3 haven't made a great deal of difference, some of the early Catalyst drivers (10.4 or 10.5?) managed to recover after crashing without resulting in a BSOD, the latest driver are all now causing BSOD.

Its a hardware issue, your card might be faulty

Other causes:bad RAM/PSU, incorrect RAM timings/voltages, bad Graphics card, overheating, outdated driver

Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

This was likely caused by the following module: hardware
    Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA80043AD8F8, 0x0, 0x0)
    Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
