    Explorer Has Stopped Working

    Hey guys,

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. Last week I did a virus scan as I got hit with a pretty nasty virus (using AVG) and then when restarted my computer every 5-10 seconds I would get the warning message 'Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working' then 'Windows Explorer Is Restarting'. I have tried so many options to try and get rid of this, including /scannow in cmd but nothing has come of it.

I have since removed AVG as I was told the software itself could have been the cause. I am currently using my computer in safe mode with networking as it's the only way I can use the computer without experiencing this problem.

Here is what I found in the problem report but I could not work out a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest posting over in the System Security forums to make sure that you're clean: System Security - Windows 7 Forums

Once that's done (the repair won't work if you're still infected), then we can start attempting to repair the system. The first step would most likely be a repair install of Win7: Repair Install
